After a disastrous experience last year at The Varsity Hotel , we had Sayle House recommended to us by the owners of Cotto, an excellent independent restaurant located within the Gonville Hotel.
We were not to be disappointed.
Located in a quiet cul de sac in easy walking distance of the River Cam and Midsummer Common, Sayle House provided a delightfully furnished, tranqil setting for a family get together. All three bedrooms are light, airy and finished to a very high spec, with de luxe bathroom amenities. Lesley & Brian are attentive, interesting and friendly hosts without being obtrusive and were only too happy to arrange taxis and provide lifts to the punts; way above and beyond the call of duty!
Breakfasts were a real pleasure; freshly prepared fruit salad and yoghurt with a range of enticing cooked food to follow.
Pre and post dinner drinks in the comfortable garden seating area were enjoyed in a lovely setting.
We couldn't fault our stay at Sayle House and look forward to returning in the future.

Beautiful house and garden within close walking distance of the centre of town. Lesley and Brian were very welcoming hosts, they couldn't do more to make our weekend extra special. We are looking forward to another visit.

Sayle House is a wonderful B&B: Its location in a cul-de-sac provides a haven from the noise and bustle of Cambridge, and the owners, Lesley and Brian, are among the friendliest, kindest, and most helpful innkeepers we've ever met. On top of that, breakfasts were fantastic, from the lovely fruit salads to the perfectly cooked "full English" that was substantial enough to last us until dinner every night. One minor downside: our room, the Willow, was quite small, so we might try for one of the larger rooms next time. But the room and bathroom were well equipped, and there's a spacious, book-lined living room and peaceful garden that guests can use for reading and relaxing.

Sayle House is located at the end of a lovely cul de sac and the 10-15 minute walk into town across the park is very pleasant. If you are visiting Midsummer House it is perfectly located for a quick stroll there and back. On arrival we received a free upgrade and stayed in the large room at the front of the house, complete with huge and super comfortable bed and a great ensuite bathroom. Breakfast was first class and Brian and Lesley were brilliant hosts. Stay here if you are visiting Cambridge!

We had the room looking onto the street, very large, bright, extra king size bed and beautifully furnished, everything you needed. Bathroom large and spacious also. Coffee, tea, etc even water, toiletries, hairdryer everything. Only a short walk into the city centre. We had a full English breakfast, toast, croissants, coffee, tea, juices lots more to chose from. Large garden to the rear. Off street parking in front of the house. Had an evening meal in the nearby pub The Old Spring, very nice. If you are able you must do the punting down the river..fab. Excellent weekend away to celebrate 40 years of friendship with my BFF :)
