Great for kids or to relax on a sunny day.
It’s also free which is great but don’t bother with parking cuz it’s a nightmare.

We arrived at 845am the car park is free but doesn’t open until 10am. I parked along the green in the bay parking along the road. This is 60p for 30 minutes. We walked across the green and was a little disappointed- there was glass bottles and loads of rubbish left from the night before. However, with getting there early it meant we had better choice of where to sit and at approximately 9am you could then see council staff cleaning up all the green areas where the rubbish was left. At 9:15 I then could see I needed to start queuing for the car park (which opens at 10am) else I wouldn’t get a space!! Once the rubbish was cleared and the car parked - I could then relax. There’s a splash pool, great park and large open spaces on the green for picnics and children played football. There are shady areas and also areas where you can sit in the sun. There’s toilets but these were a bit grim!! Definitely needed a clean. There’s also a little coffee shop, serving hot drinks and ice creams. The coffee shop was ok. They have Kelly’s Icecream, which would have been lovely but they had sold out of most flavours so the choice was limited. But I’m this heat I can’t understand why sold out! We had a lovely day all in all but it’s what you make of it and we planned and got there early!! I think if you arrived later - it would be stressful as it gets very busy and you wouldn’t be able to park. Totally recommend, but plan and get there early!!

This is a lovely park situated just outside the town centre. It has a car park but it gets very busy at times and space is at a premium. Good for a stroll and it has a big childrens playground too.

Large park for a stroll, dotted with medium sized trees.
There is a large paddling pool/swimming pool at one corner, only 1/2 metre deep, and suitable for children of all ages.
A shop does a roaring trade in ice cream etc, plus rents lilos and small dinghies (even if the board declares dingy hire).
The play area is quite spectacular, with climbing frames, pirate boats, swings etc. Kept my grandson amused for well over an hour.
A good afternoon out.
