Thanks for taking your time to share a little about your stay at our cabins!
We try our best to make sure that lots of time and dedication are given to our property and cabins, to ensure that your stay goes by with as little trouble as possible and guarantee a pleasant and memorable stay.
Our garden is indeed a highlight of our property. It has been operating for 10 years now and it is a great source of innocuous produce for our community. There you can find a great variety of leafy-vegetables like lettuce, basil, parsley, cilantro, chives, rosemary and every now and then you may find cherry tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers! Most of what you'd need for an amazing, fresh, salad. Make sure to check it out from monday through saturdays from 7:30am to 3:30pm!
Thanks again for your comment and hope to have you back in the future!
We loved our stay at Los Pinos. We had cabin #17, the highest climb, but most secluded. The cabin was large and spacious and we had a fire every evening. The quiet, cool mountain environment was so peaceful and the trails behind the cabin were great to explore. They are so environmentally aware and also so friendly. Our only regret was we booked for only 3 nights, we could have stayed a week enjoying the cabin and environment.
Thanks a lot for taking your time to write about your experience at our small sustainable lodge! It means a lot that you regret not staying here longer, especially after staying at some of the best hotels in Costa Rica and the world!
Monteverde has a lot of activities for different types of travelers to enjoy. If you are looking for nature, over 10 different private reserves will offer chances to get up close and personal with it, in either night hikes or day hikes. There are also hanging bridges, herpetariums, a frog pond, a bat jungle, an orchid garden, humming bird gardens and butterfly gardens as well. For those looking for adventure, we have bungee jumps, some of the best zip line adventures in Latin America, horseback riding, atv riding, tree climbing and rappelling down waterfalls. Last but not least, if you just want to get to know a little bit about our culture, you can learn about coffee, chocolate, sugar cane or go on a philanthropy hike to learn more about Monteverde's history and sustainability advancements. Basically, you can spend a week here without a problem as there is indeed lots to do!
Can't wait to have you back and thanks again for your 5 star review!
We really loved this place! True to it's word, it's smack in the middle of a forest, and as the name suggests, there are quite a few pines. The hiking trails were lovely, and having a greenhouse guests can visit to get food for dinner was quite cool as well. The woman who checked us in was clearly very knowledgable about the area and had great suggestions which we followed and had a great time! Close enough to town to walk but far enough to feel secluded. Would definitely recommend this place to others!
Thanks for your kind review!
We love to hear such positive feedback and knowing you loved Los Pinos, is just wonderful!
As you note, there are still quite a lot of pines and cypress trees on our property, but these are already over 40 years old and are slowly being replaced by native species. In the future, these non-native trees will no longer exist but a healthy and diverse native forest will be found in their place.
Our hydroponic garden is indeed one of our favorite things onsite. Getting to actually purchase your vegetables directly from the source is an incredible experience and it can’t get much fresher than that. Make sure to check it out every day, except Sundays, from 7:30am to 3:30pm.
By the way, the woman that helped out during the check in was Gloriana, one of the family members who owns Los Pinos.
Until next time!
This is my happy place. Comfortable cabins, beautiful grounds, and abundant wildlife are just a few of the things that make it wonderful. These are cabins in the woods and sometimes the wildlife can find its way in. If the occasional scorpion in the cabin is a problem, this may not be for you. If you love the whole experience, check out this amazing place.
Hola Chad E :)
Very nice of you to share some about your experience at our cabins!
It warms our hearts to hear that this was your happy place and that you think our cabins are amazing! As you note though, Los Pinos is best for those who appreciate the connection with nature and are not looking for a 5 star resort with a pool. We do have some cabins that are a little more upscale and a spa on the property, but even they are immersed and surrounded by nature and require some walking to get to.
Thanks again and we would love to have you back anytime!
My family enjoyed two nights in a cabina at Los Pinos. Everyone was extremely friendly and there was an air of tranquility about the entire setting. We spotted Emerald Toucans, motmots and agouti on the puma trail right on the property. The gardens are lovely and serene. They are also located near a bakery, laundry and grocery store. We saved money preparing breakfast and lunch in the kitchenette which was well stocked with the basics.
The staff organized a tour with Three Brothers tour company of the Monteverde cloud forest. Elbert, with Three Brothers, was a kind and knowledgeable local guide. He went out of his way to make sure our five-year-old could see all the animals he pointed out to us. We saw spider monkeys, capuchin monkeys, wild turkey, two-toed sloth, a palm pitviper and a quetzal among countless other birds and plants.
We also visited the herpiterium in Santa Elena. Note that your entrance is good twice! We went once during the day and a second time at night. Our five year old was thrilled with this small but nice facility.
Our stay at Los Pinos and in Santa Elena was the highlight of a wonderful two week trip to Costa Rica! I have already recommended them to two other friends planning trips!
Thanks for your review!
We are beyond happy to hear that your stay in our mountain was the highlight of your two week trip to Costa Rica! It is interesting how a different concept, managed with care and lots of love, can impact so much on those who visit us!
It sounds like you were very lucky at the reserve! Nature is nature and sometimes wildlife can be hard to spot. A positive and grateful attitude is always a must when you are out there exploring to have such success!
Thanks again for taking your time to share your experience and see you next time!
My family of five (mom, dad, 4, 13, 15) had a great time there. Missed a pool but lots to do in the area and a great garden, fun trails and a playground for the youngster. Very willing to help out with any issues or questions. Nice coffee/breakfast place across the street. Very nice to my 4.5 year old, who wanted to visit the office every day and when we left he had set his eyes upon a lego RV...and they let him take it! Would definitely return.
Good to hear from you guys!
We hope the LEGO RV is getting good use, it was a little lonely here and it was time for it to get a friend!
Los Pinos thrives to be a special place where people would want to return, and knowing you would definitely do so, warms our hearts and gives us the motivation to keep up the hard work!
True, we don't have a pool onsite, but the weather is rarely nice enough for it, probably one of the reasons why just a couple hotels in Monteverde have one and the reason why we dont need AC.
As you say, there is also quite enough to do in the mountain, so we are sure you won't be bored, and if you do, a hike up to our look out point is a must.
Thanks again and we wish you all the best!
