“A romantic cruise for a very special question!”
Reviewed 29 September 2011

I would highly recommend this cruise! If you ever get to Vancouver Island, this is the single most important thing to do. Don't go for the more economical whale watching factories. Toddy and Al make this cruise a special thing to remember. They take the time and are very knowledgeable!

For us it was an extra special cruise because of a marriage proposal I had planned for the trip. Toddy and Al were very involved and just as nervous as me. They helped me plan this special day to the smallest detail. Because of moderate weather forecasts at the last minute, we even decided to put the cruise one day forward. Their idea! So flexible and helpful!

Keywords: Personal, like family, involved, fantastic experience!

“Welcome aboard a warm and friendly whale watching experience.”
Reviewed 25 September 2011

We chose to go out with Al and Toddy for a day cruise as we wanted something relaxed and a different experience than the boats that whizz you out for a couple of hours and back again. The group was really friendly, all from different countries and Al and Toddy's banter and friendliness helped bring everyone together. The boat is beautiful, and luxurious. And as it's their home, it doesn't feel commercialised at all!
The day is a lovely day out, to see the beautiful scenery and wild life (if you are lucky, we were!) Al's running commentary and sense of humour makes it a fun and light hearted day. The lunch is delicious and we were kept watered and happy all day.
This trip certainly is head and shoulders above the usual quick and impersonal service you might expect in such a beautiful touristy area. Highly recommend it and it is fantastic value for the extra bit of money.

We had such a great time on our 5 hour nature cruise! The yacht was very comfortable, not bumpy and romantic, with a delicious gourmet lunch and refreshments provided. Lunch was prepared by a local restaurant with all fresh, local ingredients. Toddy & Al were great tour guides, putting such a personal touch on our time aboard their home (they live on the yacht!) and telling us all about the history of the area and all the wildlife we saw along the way. They are very, very knowledgeable about the area and full of entertaining stories from all their years in Uclulet. We saw two humpback whales, dozens of Stellar's and California sea lions, a black bear and more seals and sea birds than we could count. The scenery through the islands in Barkley Sound was incredible. Even if the cost of this cruise is a bit more than some of the other whale watching tours in Ucluelet, it is well worth it and we highly recommend Archipelago Wildlife Cruises! Al and Toddy offer much more than a typical whale watching experience.

“Outstanding Day”
Reviewed 23 September 2011

My husband and I recently visited Tofino and Ucluelet and wanted a more encompassing and relaxing whale watching trip. Rathering than being jetted out in a zodiac for a short trip to see whales we decided on something a little different with Toddy and Alan on their boat. We spent a day with them out in the Broken Group Islands spotting, not only whales, but bald eagles, seals and sea lions. To top it off we enjoyed a lovely lunch with wine on the upper deck of their boat nestled in a beautiful little cove.

“Highlight of our vacation! Absolutely worth the long drive to Ucluelet!”
Reviewed 22 September 2011

This tour was fantastic despite less than optimal weather. It was cool and drizzling most of the day. What mattered most to us was the being able to celebrate many gorgeous wild animals in their natural habitat and the outstanding care Al & Toddy showed for our comfort while we were in their home. (their beautiful boat) While researching for our Pacific NW trip, I was seeking a third destination after Seattle and the San Juan Islands. I came across this tour and, after reading reviews, decided that Uclulet had to be our final destination. Our expectations, though high, were exceeded. This trip was incredible and I recommend it in the highest! Thank you Al & Toddy!!!
