New land lords finding their feet, but maintaining high standards with food and beer. As an overseas visitor who has visited previously.

Went here after completing the Hall Walk from Fowey to Polruan. Right on the harbour and close to where you get the ferry back over to fowey.

It was a Sunday so they had a full carvery but also the normal lunch menu and specials on the board. Lots of choice. We had fish and chips, fish pie, crab pate and a small carvery. All very nice, good sized portions and reasonable price. Beers, ales and ciders on tap.

Got there early as didn’t book as it did get busy later. Lovely atmosphere and log fire which was needed as pretty cold

How can a place take such a dive? The land lords have changed and the entire place has taken a dive. Poor food poor beer and a poor atmosphere. Its a shame St Austell Brewery didn't give it Wetherspoons!! This place is now in need of serious surgery.

This pub was great during the summer but I visited a couple of months ago, the owners have changed and sadly there's a lack of atmosphere and an overpriced menu, the owner wasn't particularly friendly didn't engage in conversation, hoping it improves.

Oh dear what a sad disaster. This was a great pub and with a trip to Polruan just for a pint of Ratter and a plate of Nachos ( or a "Whale" or indeed a "Fishwich). But new owners have arrived and ruined the place in short order! No WiFi anymore - even the smallest Greek taverna has WiFi FFS!!!! The menu is rubbish - like you would get at a Wetherspoons - gone are the Nachos the Fishwich and the Polruan Whale - all that stuff that made this place special. The 2 stars are for the log fire and the bar staff who though polite were clearly dispirited by the changes.A note to the new owner - the menu is boring and better suited to a city centre pub and when I did order "potato wedges" with added bacon (£1 supplement) it was revolting - yesterdays roasties swimming in grease hot yes but with the unevenness of heat of a microwave. We normally visit many times over the year as we live here in Fowey and have a rib mooring on the Polruan pontoon and a drink in the Lugger is a regular but it seems sadly no more - we couldn't wait to leave.
