Kiwi Cove is in a good location, just off the Trans Canada and its view of the straight rows of kiwi trees is splendid. But there is a sort of boarding school feel to this large establishment: One does not expect to be served indifferent coffee in the same mugs that they use at our local homeless shelter, or to have the toast turn up already buttered on a plate.
We can't fault their affability or helpfulness but it just seemed a bit too big and regimented for those expecting a cosy B and B. One friend complained of being cold: The in-room heater clanked like a tractor, she said. My room was huge and comfortable but there was no grab bar in the tub--a major concern for older guests, I would think. And I DID want to watch the news--there is no cable!

We had our wedding at Kiwi Cove on September 1st 2018 and it is everything I could have dreamed of.
The venue is very romantic and beautiful and tied together our vintage themed wedding.
We are relatively new to Nanaimo so almost all of our guests were from out of town, being able to accommodate most of them at the lodge was an added bonus.

Love and romance oozed out of every detail of the lodge from the beautiful kiwi vines, an ocean stroll at the end of the property to the beautiful outdoor setting for our ceremony and reception and don't forget the cute simple but sweet décor of the rooms and lodge.
Peggy was wonderful and helped us with all the little details to make our day as special as possible.

Finally THE FOOD!!!!

The lodge catered our wedding with great prices and blew the meal out of the water!!
Every single thing we ate was better than the last, even the salad dressing was incredible!
Our guests are still talking about how awesome the dinner was!!

All we can say is thank you Kiwi Cove for everything!
Our wedding day was perfect and perfectly us.
If I could rate the lodge, staff and overall experience higher I would and we will be back on anniversaries to relive it all again.

Stayed just the one night on route to Tofino, we were in the birds nest room which was spacious and clean with a large balcony overlooking the kiwi grove and gardens beyond, the included breakfast was freshly prepared with plenty of choice which we ate out on the deck whilst watching the numerous hummingbirds.
Would stay here again if we were in the area.

We are here for a 1 night stay, yes right now and we are the ONLY guests in the lodge. We are in room #24 and the bed is absolutely the worst we have ever slept in, it is old, sags in the middle and squeaks terrible anytime one person moves. I would think we were given a good room being the only guests but since I don't see any other reviews about the sleep quality maybe not. It is also a very cool morning outside and it does not appear the heat has been turned on so very uncomfortable. This would have been so nice here but when you can't sleep nothing else really matters!

Room tip: Do not stay in #24

Lovely little spot a short distance off the highway. Exceptionally clean, large rooms comfy beds and a beautiful view of a kiwi farm. Breakfast was home made and delicious. It’s our second visit to Victoria island and Kiwi Lodge both times a great getaway!
