Old house, which was expected, but not the poor condition of our room on main floor. Smell in the room and on the bedding was so bad we cancelled after 1st night. Paint and wall paper stained and peeling, carpets dirty, mold on bathroom ceiling, shower curtain wasn't long enough so water "showered" the floor.
However, location is good and the owner refunded our full cost when we told her we could not stay the add'l 2 nights as booked. With lots of work this could be a nice place.

Room Tip: Choose room in another hotel.

My wife and I stayed here on September 12 and 13, 2017 in Room # 1 on the Main floor. Would rate it no higher than 5 out of 10. Sagging wallpaper, sagging mattress, chipped paint on walls, cheap chipped furniture, old and ratty rugs,no proper ensuite but had an institutional shower with sink in bedroom, and dirty desk fan for air conditioning. The owner Andrea was smart to not show up on the premises with staff explaining that " she is away on a course"
It is obvious that the Government of Nova Scotia does not perform actual on site inspections before endorsing ones like these to the detriment of the public.

This is an old house converted to a B&B. Just away from the busy harbor area, we had a great sleep in the "queen" room. It was noy full, so it felt like we had this wonderful place all to ourselves. There are a number of different rooms, and 2 or 3 little seating areas where you can relax. Iy is perhaps a 5 or 10 minute stroll to the harbor area, so situated just right for us.Staff were very friendly and offered good guidance for things to see.

We stayed a couple nights while in Lunenburg on business. From first look, the building is beautiful with amazing architecture. Upon entering the building you see a beautiful wood banister and antiques in the hallway and sitting room. The room was on second floor. It looked ok with a queen bed and antiques around the room.

Here are the downfalls. It smells bad. In the hallway when you enter, you can smell a stinky, moldy type of smell. It got worse as we went upstairs. Luckily it wasn't in our room or we would have left. The carpets and rugs were not very clean. Some of the furniture looked a bit shabby. At least run he vacuum on the stairs! Make sure my bed skirt isn't ripped up. I'm being picky but darn it, it should be better than my own home!

I know these are old buildings fitted to current times but come on. Not even a plug by the bed for our phones? There was a clock, plugged into an extension cord but I would have had to crawl under the bed and table to get it. Seeing all the spiderwebs and dust under the bed made me decide to plug in at the sink. The corners all had spiderwebs. The bathroom ceiling had mold and peeling paint.
The towels were nice. The coffee maker didn't work well. And last but not least......
The Breakfast. Let me say we had booked with another hotel that was $25 cheaper. We decided to change because there were such rave reviews about the breakfast. There is NO BREAKFAST!! What you get instead is a box delivered to your door with a granola bar, a little orange and some pastries that were sticky, old and unappealing.
When you go to a B&B, you expect an experience. This was not a good one. Don't get me wrong, it was -ok-. But just ok isn't enough. Wouldn't come back.

Great location, quaint rooms but in need of upkeep. We loved the actual building, very historical and lovely. Our room was nice and big except for the bathroom which was so small, that the sink is in the main room and we couldn't have a shower without water going all over the bathroom floor. The bed was comfortable but the bedspread was stained. Speaking of stains, the carpet in the hallways were stained as were the common area sofas. However, the actual cleanliness was good for what can be done with some elbow grease and cleaning solutions. Fresh sheets, clean bathroom etc. But, as I mentioned, needs some upkeep. Paint peeling off the wall in the room and a window with a large rip in the screen. When we asked for tape to tape it up, we were told that she didn't know where there was any. Well, we found a window fan in the closet and put it in the window ourselves to deal with the ripped screen and to get some air since the rooms are not air conditioned. Not a huge deal, but these little things should be kept up. We loved the little boxed continental breakfast at our door in the morning. A few pastries, a piece of fruit each and a few granola bars plus the rooms have coffee and tea in them, so it worked. We love the location as far as it's distance to the main downtown of Lunenburg but we found it quite noisy to sleep on the weekend with the Knot Pub across the street especially when we had to keep the windows open for some air. Perhaps investing in some small portable air conditioning units would solve this problem. I agree with many other reviews that it's a nice, historic house that needs some TLC. A fair stay for a fair price.
