We took 4 kids aged 10 and 11 to the Monkido area for the first time. The initial orientation or training session must be mastered before starting the coarse. During orientation our group of about 20 (perhaps a few less) watched as the instructor showed how to proceed. SHe wasn't very clear and wasn't very wordy or friendly. She stood at the opposite end of the training coarse while people were making all sorts of mistakes at the beginning. We ended up talking other people through it as well as our own 4 kids....she finally chimed in once in a while.
Once the kids showed proficiency during training, they were let loose to tackle the real thing. The girls had a blast. There were 2 safety-type employees here who looked bored and were very unfriendly.
Don't forget your bug spray. On a hot day, you might want to stop of at Maple Ridge Spray Park on the way out for a picnic and some more play time.
