We arrived at Manoir Hovey 8:15pm after a five-and-half-hour flight from SFO and a 90-minute drive from Montreal, car driver arranged through the hotel. Check In was swift, then we and our bags were driven to the suite which sits atop a ridge overlooking Lake Massawippi in the southeast countryside of Quebec.

Our expansive suite was one of two in a large cottage set apart from the main buildings. Heated swimming pool for just those two suites and each unit has a hot tub on the spacious balcony that also features beautiful forest and lake views. It is autumn now, so those views were working up to spectacular. Our suite (Oriole or #49) consisted of foyer, kitchen, living room, very special bathroom snd a large balcony with gorgeous views.

Decor was more contemporary than my druthers but I came to quite like it; also functional and comfortable. Climate control worked perfectly and had good range.

The fancy house restaurant was in high haute cuisine mode which we twice enjoyed. I no longer am a fan of these protracted meals with all the service trimmings but our friends from Brooklyn loved it. The Tap Room venue was more to our taste whilst yet offering a varied menu. Meals were very good and room service was exceptional. Best club sandwich EVER. Good wine list. Afternoon tea and scrumptious scones.

The lake and surrounding countryside is drop-dead gorgeous. I so wish we had discovered it sooner. Not an easy trip from California so knows when we'll return.

The first floor of the manor featured a lovely old-fashioned library/sitting room, check-in/concierge desk, the large main restaurant and, at the back, a deep shady porch that must have been 200 feet long. Cushioned wicker furniture including requisite rocking chairs. Surrounding grounds abundantly gardened with roses, dahlias, marigolds, rudbeckia, begonias, ageratum, statice, and more. Lawns and gardens feature many comfortable seating areas and heated swimming pool.

There are a selection of rooms and suites; some are better than others. The websie describes rooms in detail. Do your homework.

I was utterly smitten by this extraordinary place and its bucolic environs.

My then fiancé and I shopped for a long time for a venue. We can say without hesitation that Manoir Hovey was the best choice for us. Our wedding was simply magical : the food was outstanding, the location was breathtaking, the service was impeccable and professional. Our dog was even allowed during our ceremony and in our suite.

Special thanks to Julia Brouillard who has been extremely helpful and professional with all the wedding preparations. We didn't hire a wedding planner and everything went very well.

My hubby booked here for a night as our wedding anniversary gift and my birthday gift including a very nice massage. The site is breathtaking. I was left speechless and i’ve been to many places around the world. If you can afford it, take a room with a view on the lake. The fall period is an exceptionnally gorgeous period to visit here. With the spectacular colors you will be swept away. Services is amazing and the staff very welcoming. Try to add to your package the special they offer with 3-course fancy dinner, breakfast and tips included. Well worth it! All activities such as kayak & paddle board are free. Try to enjoy the pool and take a walk in the woods to enjoy the colors!!!

Don't hesitate - book and go.
Recommend spending at least 2 nights and 3 days in the region.
Besides the great facilities, bike rentals, restaurant, and kayaking, we really enjoyed tasting local cheeses in the region.

Lovely lodge experience with a quality of service that reflects the best of Canadian hospitality. Food preparation is equally as generous, with flourishes and accents that will occasionally gild the lily. Start small.
