We stayed here in July 2017. The gite was clean comfortable and very well equipped. Robin and Debbie are superb hosts who make you most welcome, they are helpful with any questions you may have about the area or local facilities that you may need. The grounds are spacious, about 6 acres, which are kept to a very good standard. Their dogs Zippy and Lunar are equally welcoming and always willing to take you for a walk around the grounds, they are most friendly towards your dogs. If you are looking for a quiet getaway in beautiful countryside Le herpiniere has a great deal going for it.
We thought the location was very good with lots of places to drive to only about one hour away, La Herpiniere was very comfortable and well looked after, The grounds were very well maintained and nice to walk around. Our dog Ali wanted to stop there with there 2 dogs and got on very well. There are places to eat and drink only a few miles away and large shops only 15 min away also a vet if you take your dog with you and need one before you set off back to the UK. We will go again as soon as we can.
Not long returned from this lovely Cottage/Gite, Owners Debbie and Robin are very welcoming, along with their dogs Luna and Zippy, The grounds to the Cottage are stunning, as you enter it is surrounded by lots of trees of different varieties, The cottage itself has everything you should need whilst away from home, There is also an abundance of fruit trees (Cherry, Raspberry, Blueberry, Redcurrant etc) and we where encouraged to take as much as we wanted, There is also a Fishpond with what seems like hundreds of Koi waiting to be fed from the nearby box of food! oh and Chickens are also in a corner of the estate, Outside the door to the cottage there is Jasmine growing and it was so lovely to open the stable style door and let the smell waft in, We visited as a family of 4 with my elderly Mum too and it was a lovely peaceful place to use as a base.
My old mate and myself spent a week at La Herpiniere, using it as a base to visit historic sites associated with the Normandy landings. The cottage is very picturesque spotlessly clean, very comfortable, well appointed with all mod cons(dishwasher, washing machine etc) and set in 6 or so acres of beautifully maintained gardens. The surrounding countryside is lovely.
The owners Robin and Debbie were fantastic hosts, warm and welcoming, humorous and very good company. One particularly appreciated nice touch was the offer before we set off from Blighty to pick up us up some groceries. This meant two very tired and cranky old men did not have to cap off a 16 hour journey with a trip to the supermarket... priceless!
La Herpiniere is a real gem, one we will be visiting again. Very highly recommended.
This is the second time I've stayed here. The first time with my wife and this time with a motorbiking friend. It's just a little piece of heaven made better by the owners Debbie and Robin. If I said that they can't do enough for you, then that would not do them justice. The warmest most supportive people I've yet to find. The two dogs Lunar and Zippy just add to the ambience.
6 acres of tranquility within easy reach of of all you need to see.
I will be back and, coming from someone who doesn't care to repeat experiences, that should tell you something.
