My mother and I found this hotel to be absolutely lovely! They were extremely accommodating, starting with our reservation. It's a beautiful area. Serene, quiet...country living done well. When we called to book, they did everything to reserve a nice room for us, even though the hotel was nearly full. In the end, we had a ground floor room overlooking the gardens. It was super. We loved all 3 nights.
Our trip was in early September and was a celebration, without husbands, of our special birthdays. We arrived late, 8.30pm, by car, and were received promptly. They took our bags and offered us a cold dinner, which was perfect, welcoming and ideal. The bar stayed open to serve us the food and drink, and the bartender was very personable.
The room was very comfortable, clean and bright. We shared a bed, which was roomy (and planned that way). There was not much extra space, but once we unpacked into the 2 closets, which were big enough, and put the suitcases to the side, it was fine. We only spent time in the room to sleep and have breakfast on the patio, so the size was perfect for us. We had a door to the gardens, and a table outside, where we were able to have meals (breakfast most days). The nights were already cool, and the room had a thermostat. I'm not sure that we changed it, because the temperature was very comfortable.
Our bathroom was great. All tile, clean and good shower head/water pressure.
The staff was so nice. We really enjoyed speaking with them and getting to know them. They offered great suggestions on where to go, how to get there and to whom to speak..especially with the olive garden/ oil tours and the neighboring sites. And the restaurants they booked for us were fabulous! We are foodies, and the 2 restaurants were just great. We were received well and had wonderful food, and for less than what we pay at home for 2-3 course dinners.
Our stays in France were all top-notch, but, when we think about returning, we say we would return to Mas D'Oulivie. The country setting is calming, and there are plenty of places to see and do and great restaurants all around. And we loved the hotel. It was priced well for the accommodations, and the service was friendly and warm.
