“Gal's Trip - Fantastic place - hope to return”
Reviewed 21 October 2014 for a stay in October 2014

Spent three nights at the lovely and well built El Nido mid Oct. Went with three very good friends. The view is unmatched and this property is secluded and very quiet. We enjoyed every bit of it from the modern kitchen (including three types of coffee makers), to the expansive decks both upstairs and down, the interesting and varied sculptures surrounding the house to hearing the rain on the roof at night. Mick had the wood stove stoked when we arrived and it heats the place very well. Did I mention the views of the lake? The house is above the lake and one can see the ferry from Balfour crossing many times during the day as well as the changing colors - trees turning, fog, clouds; pure beauty. The beds were super comfy and the sheets thick and luxurious. Mick takes very good care of his two properties (one north of Balfour and one in the town of Nelson) and it's obvious from the minute you walk in. We had a small sanfu with hooking up the dvd player but a previous guest had unplugged it and once we figured it out we laughed over the movie Roxanne, filmed in Nelson in the 1980's. There is a gazebo that sleeps two outside but it was a bit too chilly for that so we didn't take advantage of that. There is only one bathroom but it has a deep soaking tub (we didn't use it) and a nice steam shower. For those brave enough, there is an outdoor shower as well. The property did feature internet access and it was a bit spotty but covered our needs. Ainsworth Hot Springs is minutes away, Nelson 1/2 hour or so. We will be back!

“Absolutely Magical!”
Reviewed 21 October 2014 for a stay in September 2014

The house is beautiful. The location is majestic. Being there was absolutely amazing.

Mick takes great care of his guests. He'll treat you like family if you want, or leave you entirely alone to have your own experience.

He is nice, responsive to any needs, and a naturally gracious host.

The property is secluded and private - great for a retreat and real getaway.

The house itself is absolutely beautiful, from the unique architecture to the wonderfully functional kitchen, to the the awesome bathroom with a deep tub and a steam room!

I highly highly recommend this property except for people who want to stay there when we want to visit again :)

“DREAM LOCATION FOR INTIMATE WEDDING”
Reviewed 10 September 2014 for a stay in September 2013

We rented EL Nido for an intimate wedding and couldn't have asked for a more idyllic setting. There were only 8 of us, including myself and my (now) husband, and it was spectacular. But the place could accommodate a somewhat larger celebratioin also. Beautiful open space for a wedding meal and dancing afterwards.

Very intimate and beautiful location which provided great photos and good memories. Highly recommended
