I come to Parksville often and have been returning to Riverbend Resort for 3 years now. The kids love the park and field in the middle of the resort. No party people and very quiet in the evenings. Last summer on Canada Day long weekend the resort was packed, but as soon as the sun went down the kids went to bed and it was very quiet. The private access to the Englishman River is a bonus! The resort has a store for the bare minimums, and it's nice to see they're there to run a resort..not rip off people in an overpriced store.
There's always someone who works there in a golf cart patrolling the park, which makes us feel secure when we're away shopping or at the beach. The landscaping is beautiful and kept neat. The price is right, too!

Tip: bring a soccer ball for the kids and some beach toys. In the winter months, pick up some firewood for a nice s'mores feast. There's a produce market at the entrance with a great selection.

When we reserved a site for our RV we were charged a $400 deposit (we hadn't visited their website beforehand.) That was a mistake.
We were going to stay long-term but our situation changed. We went to cancel our reservation and were told we would get half back, which was $200.
Went to their website only to discover that we had been overcharged by $200. The website clearly states that a $200 deposit is charged for long-term stays not $400. When I brought this up to the manager he said $400 was the amount they always charge for long-term.
When I asked for the name of the owner and a way to get a hold of this person the manager was not forthcoming. Still don't know who owns this business.
So...do your research before committing to this resort. Like I said, I made a mistake by not checking out the website first. I would never have agreed to pay a $400 deposit if I had known it was supposed to be $200.
In retrospect, I expect a business like this to be honest and upfront and if their website says a $200 deposit then that is what they should be charging. If a mistake is made then it should be rectified. It was not.
I am not a happy camper.

We only stayed here for 1 night and it was ok, but compared to other places we've stayed it was very sub par, especially considering it was the most expensive place we stayed during our 4 weeks in Canada.
They charge $2 for an 8 minute shower, we only stayed in one other campsite during our trip that charged for the showers and it was $1 for 10 minutes there so this seemed pretty steep, considering most places have free hot showers. They have a big sink outside, where you can do your washing up, but they've taken the hot tap off the facet so you cant use it. Again, most other places we stayed had hot water at the outside sink so you were able to wash dishes properly so it just seemed a bit stingy.
At reception they charged us $39 + tax for the night and when we later looked at their website we saw they'd charged us for the wrong season. We were only over charged by $1 so it wasnt a big deal but just added to a slightly bad feeling about the place.
On a positive note, the washrooms were clean, so that was nice.
Its an alright place, by all means, our impression was just tainted by the fact we'd been able to stay at cheaper and better places elsewhere.

Many seasonal and permanent RV's. Access to river below was nice and we had a nice view on it. Little privacy on sites. Quiet when we were there. Booked for 2 nights as we arrived and then another 2 but decided to leave after the 2nd night. Owners would not consider even a partial refund. Services reliable.

Was a great place for a family reunion.Had the main lodge for all cooking needs, beautiful and very private,as the lodge had a back yard area that was huge with a deck the lenthg of the building....Cabins accomindated all the family.I would advise the log cabins as there are cottages but they dont have as much of a rustic feel......Along with some tenting sites...Well kept and clean...staff was welcoming and take very good care of the resort...quick walk to englishman river.Beautiful beach..

Room tip: i would have preferred a log cabin, not cottage....not as much of a rustic feeling
