Good Sushi, not great, but not bad, just average. I have eaten at probably 100+ sushi joints around North America, some all you can eat, some al la carte, some a prepared 5 course Typically you will find an al la carte type sushi restaurant will have higher quality items and a more authentic sushi experience over an all you can eat restaurant. In this case, I didn't see that. I saw all you can eat quality at al la carte pricing, and tasted it too.

Sashimi selection is large and its fresh. BUT I would have liked to see an all you can eat option. The prices were fairly steep all considered. If you looking for a place to gorge on sushi, maki, and sashimi, it is going to cost you here as they do not offer an all you can eat option.

We ordered 3 teas, two boats, a small sushi/sashimi boat and a medium maki boat. The sushi sashimi boat had maki on it as "filler", so really you end up with a duplicate order if you order the two boats. The maki boat had a decent selection of maki, but the bulk of it was the cheaper type of low-cost maki, i.e not fish based. The house salad was very good with a nice house sauce, which was tasty and unique. The miso was high quality as well. We had also ordered two apps, a prawn and a tofu appetizer dish. Both were overly sauced. Drowned in a sauce and it took away from the dishes taste as it was all spicy sauce with little to no other flavors. The bill came out at 143$ plus tip for three of us. Did we leave full? Yes, we did, but full of lower quality low-cost maki and sauce.

Overall, the dining experience was well received. The waitress was attentive and on the ball. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere with a nice professional touch to it. The only problem was pricing and quality. I see an all you can eat quality billed out as a higher end more authentic al la carte price.

If you travel in Ontario, you can find much better quality sushi, maki and sashimi at Kaka sushi in Markham, or Hockey Sushi in Kanata, or Oishi Sushi in Whitby, all being flat priced all you can eat with HUGE selections of high-quality items including excellent sashimi selections some including rarer higher priced sashimi items like, yellow fin, blue fin, skipjack, yellow tail, beef taki, scallop, octopus, squid, surf clam, etc. Our 3 person Sushi Hon 143$ bill would have been 80-90$ at these 3 other restaurants with much much much more choice and much higher quality ingredients. Sushi Hon doesn't compare to these 3 others I mentioned.

Like I say, Sushi Hon is an average good sushi joint, the atmosphere is a nice and professional, but its food quality is not great. Its overpriced and the quality is average. Nothing special.

It was a first time at Sushi Hon for both myself and my friends.
We popped in for a later afternoon lunch and had such a wonderful meal and experience.

Our server was knowledge able, very sweet, on top of things, yet gave us space to enjoy our meal and each others company.

There are plenty items to choose from, and an extensive roll list so we each chose something different and all so satisfied.

We will definitely be back and can't wait to try something else new!

If you can find the large mural on the side of a two-storey building at the corner of Second and Hurontario streets in Collingwood, you can find Sushi Hon, Japanese sushi bar and grill. It's on the ground floor of this building, right across from T & Y Jewellery store downtown.
We made a return visit to Sushi Hon with an out-of-town family member who likes sushi. The first thing our family member noticed was that Sushi Hon's menu has more items on it than sushi restaurants she has visited in Ottawa and Toronto.
Our server, Tessa, was prompt and professional and our orders were in the system in quick order. Any questions we had about menu items were answered in friendly fashion by Tessa.
I ordered the Tempura lunch bento, which came with two breaded shrimp and an assortment of other tasty bits, for $11.95. Others in our group ordered yam rolls, for $6.50. They found their orders sufficient in quantity for our light lunch.
My bento box came with miso soup and chopsticks. Within minutes I had mastered using the chopsticks again! If you don't use chopsticks, you can ask for a fork, or spoon.
Our total bill came to $32.45, which we thought was fair for the food the three of us enjoyed. We would return to Sushi Hon and, judging by the flow of patrons while we were eating there, others are doing the same.
