When you enter the Mandarin you are immediately greeted by a friendly hostess who sets the tone for the attentive service that you will receive for the rest of your dinner. The quantity and variety of food is overwhelming, you can find everything from sushi to roast beef and every combination of Chinese and Canadian food in between. The dessert corner will satisfy all members of the family with a wide variety of cakes, pies, torts and fruit to cotton candy. The benefit and problem becomes one when you realize that you have a seemingly endless selection of food to stuff yourself in order to justify the $29 per person charge. Personally I would rather pay $29 to eat one very well prepared meal then stuff myself silly at a buffet. Personal choice.

We first went to the Mandarin, Newmarket this time last year. It was great, and it’s just the same a year later. There’s a tremendous variety of Chinese and other food too (eg soup, pizza) on a self-service basis - which is the real experience! - and a huge selection of pretty tasty deserts of all types. It’s easy to eat too much, but fun to have a taste of as much that’s on offer as possible. The service is friendly and attentive and the ambience is relaxing and unpretentious. All in all, a fun experience for all the family, but it’s a busy atmosphere and you probably wouldn’t want to go for a romantic tree a tete. Ample (free) parking.

The Mandarin is not what it used to be, the food is never fresh and new.. it seems tired and old and very expensive considering prices elsewhere. Really hard to eat that much to get your "money's worth".
Desserts are usually bland or dry; and despite the variety and selection, you find yourself looking for at least just one good thing. Just my opinion . We used to go a lot but probably won't be back.

The Mandarin really has a little bit of everything. I enjoy the sushi, all the Asian dishes, the classic American items, and the desserts. There is so much to choose from. I do find it to be getting very expensive though. We attended for a late weekday lunch and it wasn't too busy. It was actually a great time to go. The service is always great.

Went there with my mother and my now ex for dinner, the pour great drinks, thr food is just like every other location. Nothing special that sets this place apart from the other locations. The koi pond really needs to be cleaned. But food wise it was your average buffet
