“Worth doing over and over”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 March 2012

One of the best ways to learn kayaking and to do something different outdoors that you might not ordinarily do. Once the weather warms up there never seems to be enough time to enjoy summer, so we plan to pencil in more dates to Deep Cove and do more kayaking this year. They have a range of kayaks and all the gear you'd need so it's just a question of picking your day and time. Regulars might want to invest in their own skirts and paddles for comfort. Paddling up Indian Arm is such a treat. Although it is the ocean, the waters are protected, so it's ideal for relative novices like we are. Recommend it to anybody!

“Safe, stunning, and satisfying”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 November 2011

We started our day with a tasty breakfast at one of the cosy restaurants in the village of Deep Cove, then set off for a one day paddle on Indian Arm in a double kayak with my wife. It was necessary to book 4 days in advance for this time of year, as many school groups use the hire facility. We are experienced with sit on top kayaks, but I found the rear position foot steering very cramped as I have big feet. I would recommend that you use some kind of flexible footwear if you are going for a long paddle as it would become painful without it. The weather was perfect, with a light breeze. We paddled along the coastline for two hours, even cruising past a small group of seals resting on logs, then crossed the arm to the other side for the return trip including setting ashore at Twin Islands for lunch.
The return trip was a little more strenuous, as we were paddling against the wind, but arrived back after a thoroughly enjoyable paddle six hours after we left.
The venue is highly recommended for a kayak paddle, but the rental rates are exorbitant.

“Great Experience, wish we had more time.”

Rented two kayaks, pretty good prices. If you are not utilizing their tours, recommend renting for as long as you can as there is much to explore and it takes a while to get there. 2 hours was not enough! Make sure to make a reservation, especially during the weekend, as they appear to be very popular.

“Kayaking and Paddle sport paradise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2011

I have visited Deep Cove before but this time my husband and I took our two adult sons to go kayaking and paddle boarding. The staff at Deep Cove Canoe and Kayak are so helpful and the rentals were excellent quality. We paddled around the actual cove for a couple of hours and saw everything from seals to herons. It was a perfect introduction to paddling in the region and we will absolutely return for more kayaking experiences.

“Great Outing at Deep Cove”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2011

We recently went kayking at Deep Cove, east of North Vancouver. The Deep Cove Kayak and Canoe Centre rents kayaks and canoes for two hours all the way up to all day. We just went for two hours but enjoyed the experience immensely. The area is lovely. There are some wonderful houses and vistas to enjoy. We were two couples, all over 50. We rented one two person kayak as well as two singles. Bring your camera as well as a change of clothes. You should not get too wet but the kayak did leak water. I did not bring extra clothes and did dry out without changing. We did not reserve ahead but this is a defininte option as the place is busy. Going out early in the morning probably helped. This outing may appeal to those who have some upper body strength though one can relax in the kayaks as well.
