Specific cabins have Murphy beds, mounted in the front entrance. Very useful in providing another separate bedroom. We used it full time, and absolutely to our advantage. Don't go to Banff Gate Mountain Resort looking for a "5-Star". You'll be disappointed. But if outdoor activity is your primary focus, either summer or winter, you'll be tremendously rewarded. As for accommodations, separate cabins are unusual. We found peace and tranquility exceeds pampering. Good indoor hot tub and excellent indoor pool for families. This is a family oriented facility if you can accept establishing your own daytime itineraries. Enjoyed our stay quite immensely.

Room Tip: Consider Murphy bed equipped cabins. As for beds, all were comfortable. We read a Trip Advisor review that was totally off the mark on this point (i.e. beds hard as a board) - totally incorrect by our experience..

Hi Cliff,

Thank you for your review! We are so happy to hear that you and your family thoroughly enjoyed your time with us at the start of the new year! We aren't THE Four Seasons, but if being close to nature is your thing, then we are the perfect place for ALL four seasons! ;)
We look forward to having you and your family back for a visit soon!

Great location close to Canmore and Banff. Great mountain views from all chalets. Nice, quiet place. Chalets need some updating, but resort has been working through upgrades for several years and have made significant progress.

Room Tip: Be sure to book well ahead.

Hi Christopher,

Thank you for your review - we are sorry that you felt that your stay with us was only a 1 out of 5.
It is true that our cabins are a bit dated, but you are correct in that we have been working diligently on upgrades and improvements around the property.
It is a slow yet steady process and we think you will be impressed at all the work we've done just even over the last two years.
We look forward to seeing you again next time!

I love it here. Million dollar views. A wilderness get away. Calm. Comfortable. Private. Well-eqipped to cook or nearby Canmore if you prefer to not. You can do as much or as little as you want. Many off the resort activities are available year round. World class skiing at Lake Louise....50 minutes. Banff.....20 minutes. Banff Hot Springs. Hiking trails for all levels nearby or a short drive away. BGMR is a great homebase and a wonderful place to come home to each night.

Room Tip: Your 'room' is a self-contained 2 bedroom , 2 bath cabin on a mountainside in one of the world's most beautiful settings. Breathe! and enjoy the calm from your deck.

Hi Maureen,
Thank you for your excellent review! Our isolated location so close to the hustle and bustle of Banff and Canmore is what makes us a hidden gem!
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us and look forward to seeing you again!

Hi James,

Thank you for your review! It doesn't come across the wrong way at all if peace and quiet is something other guests are after too! It's nice to be able to get a break from the crowds in Banff (and even Canmore!) and come back to your cabin in the woods - we know that this is a main draw for a lot of our returning guests! Even when we are fully booked, it somehow still seems like you're the only one here!
We hope you come back to stay with us again soon!

We have been coming to this resort for over 25 years. We have seen it's ups and downs. Right now it is on its way back up. I love the location. It is quiet, peaceful and beautiful. I love the cabins made of cedar. They are cozy and comfortable.

Hi Steve,

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a wonderful review - and thank you for coming to visit us for the past 25 years! We are so thrilled to hear about how much you enjoy the resort. It's true that there have been some major ups and some major downs during that time - thank you for sticking with us!
We appreciate that you've taken notice of all the hard work (and love and care) our staff and managers have been putting in over the last few years. We are definitely on our way back up and can't wait for your next visit to see all of our improvements!
