“Absolutely beautiful ”
Reviewed 24 February 2016 for a stay in February 2016

I recently booked this for a weekend away for my girlfriends birthday, and we couldn't believe just how beautiful it was. Fields as far as the eye could see and the amazing rolling hills. The owners have thought of everything you could need, a well detailed information folder on local tourist information, as well as more details about the cottage. Freshly baked brownies on arrival was a great touch. Would definitely recommend to anyone and are looking at returning later in the year.

“Peace & luxury!”
Reviewed 1 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

We spent three nights in this beautiful location. The Old Farrowings is just delightful. Gorgeous huge bedroom with comfy bed & nice linen, tv & lovely bathroom. The bathroom is nice & roomy too with bath & a nice big separate shower.
The rest of the apartment/ cottage is very quaint & cosy with everything you could need or want. There are even some dvds to watch, books to read & yummy cookies left by Jane even though she was away when we arrived. There is also tea / coffee provisions & even a nespresso machine & bottled water.
It was just amazing each morning to wake up & look out to the beautiful green hills with the cows & of course those cheeky geese who could entertain you for hours.
All communication that we had with Jane before we came was great & we felt very welcome to Biggin Grange.
We did really love the Old Farrowings with it's rustic feel & every comfort. We would definitely love to come again to this delightful place if we ever are back in the UK.

It was lovely to have you both to stay in The Old Farrowings all the way from Australia! Thanks for writing such a lovely review and I hope the rest of your trip in the UK goes well. It was nice to chat with you and get your feed-back about the cottage and glad it ticked all of the boxes for you. Please do come back and stay again if ever you are back in England. Jane

“All boxes ticked”
Reviewed 28 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Just had our fifth stay here and with out fail all boxes ticked! Such an idyllic spot to stay at and we were lucky enough to be there when the Super Blood Moon was in view. With no light pollution the stars are just awesome ! Comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen plus the fabulous wood burner all the creature comforts for a great break.
We will return!

It was lovely to have you both back and am so pleased that you had yet another good time - 5th time ....! It was great you had such lovely sunny weather and the bonus of the moon. I wish I had remembered to set my clock for the middle of the night but even at 5.15am this morning it was very special! Look forward to seeing you again in the future - I should be offering reward points for repeat business! Jane

Thrilled you made use of the tennis court - it never gets used enough! Do come back again if you need to escape to the Derbyshire hills.

“Exceptional little retreat, perfectly located for exercise, exploring and relaxation”
Reviewed 26 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We have visiting the Biggin Grange cottages on three separate occasions now over the past 18 months. Needless to say we love the place and find it the perfect short getaway holiday.

The cottages are situated perfectly for short day trips out to a number of surrounding towns and villages. Buxton, Hartington and Ashbourne are all within reach by either car or bike. Alternatively the cottages are secluded enough to be able to enjoy relaxing in your own company. There is a pub serving food within short walking distance in the centre of Biggin if you don't feel like cooking either. The cottages are set back from the road, and are surrounded by pasture and grazing livestock.

The internal and external space is very neat and tidy. The cottages have been sympathetically restored, with many original features being retained. The Old Farrowings in particular has a fantastic little rear patio which overlooks rolling hillsides. A trio of Indian Runner ducks also provide ample entertainment when sitting outside taking in the views. The bedroom in the Old Farrowings is both spacious and impressive, whilst the lounge and kitchen living areas are nice and snug for an evening in front of the television. A log burner with ample supply of fuel provides a warm centre piece and the kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans and other essentials, with even room for a dishwasher.

With the High Peak and Tissington Trails within a stones throw of the cottages, this is a great base camp for getting out running, walking and cycling. The abundance of accessible trails and footpaths makes it easy to tailor the distance of any exercise without ending up miles from anywhere.

All in all this is a fantastic place to come and visit. Each time we visit, we always leave wishing we could buy a cottage like this in the area.

Great place, lovely hosts.

Thank you so much for such a lovely review and it is so nice when guests return. As you say the area is perfect for walking and cycling and I am always on the Tissington Trail with the dog. So nice to see the countryside from that elevated position. Please do come back and see us again when you need a country fix!
