This is an average place trying to be above average (and charge higher prices). Although the rooms are decorated quite nicely they are small, the cost of a room (140+ a night) is too high. You can not avoid the fact that this is a motel converted to an "Inn" located on a busy strip (Ski Run Blvd) and the noise from the busy street and guests is enough to keep you awake.

Stayed whilst on business in South Lake Tahoe, having stayed previously during a vacation. Great little inn with some lovely touches, rooms are excellent and hosts very welcoming. Highly recommend it.

We booked this hotel as we had business in town and needed somewhere relaxing to stay. The reviews were outstanding and the photographs of the rooms showed someone who cared deeply about their business. However, as we drove up we became concerned as we had toured this property with our son when students from the local junior college were staying there for monthly rentals. Not that it was bad at that time but it was more tired than we would want to stay at--not students anymore. No need for worry as everything, and I mean everything, has been re-done to a high standard. The decor is so very nice, and the added touches of snacks, coffee and coffee pot, abundance of shampoos and skin care products, fluffy robes was unexpected. The renovations and personal touches of the rooms were very nice and there is also a coin operated laundry room for those that are staying for an extended period. The beds are ever so comfortable with duvets, added covers, and six or more pillows. The outdoor pool area looked very inviting with a spa, pool, big lounges like you see in Las Vegas. The owners are a delight and they obviously care about their guests and their comfort. The location is great if you are looking for quiet, and nice restaurants within walking distance. The breakfast in the morning was nice and included fresh fruit, breads and pastry, oatmeal, juice and coffee. Certainly enough to hold you over until lunch. I decided to give this Inn 5 stars as I felt that their price-point was lreasonable given the amenities and attention you receive. We will return to this Inn if we are in the area.

Room Tip: We chose the King Plus and were very happy. You could hear a bit of road noise but nothing that was...

Before we purchased the property in February 2010, the shabby motel was being used for college housing but was closed at the time of our purchase. As this kind guest pointed out......everything is new and has been remodeled with our personal touches.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? The Alder Inn is quiet, convenient and comfortable. It feels like a nice bed and breakfast in a motel setup. It's in a great location near Stateline and Heavenly Ski Resort, they have a really nice pool and hot tub, the rooms are really nice, clean and comfortable, and the owners Chad and Layni are the best! My girlfriend and I had a really nice experience here last weekend, and were surprised at the attention to detail that was used in designing the rooms and providing amenities. How can you beat a care basket of Clif bars and other snacks when you first get in the room, or the large selection of bath products to help you unwind after a day on the mountain?

They provided comfortable robes that were really nice to use when we hit the hot tub. Sitting in hot, bubbly water after a day of skiing is a little slice of heaven. The rooms are clean, warm, and well-furnished, and the hotel itself is very quiet and relaxing. Plus, we were only a short walk away from some great restaurants and a short drive to Stateline for some late-night fun.

Room Tip: Second floor king bedrooms are really nice!

I stayed with my husband for a night at Alder Inn. I chose this place due to its proximity to the Lake, the Heavenly Ski resort, and all other shops.

The rooms are lovely and cozy. Each room is different and the owner couple decorates, cleans the place themselves and the persona touch is surely felt! Everything is perfectly placed and co-ordinated.

I was amazed to see the attention to details in providing all the amenities/toiletries.

Would have loved to stay more...may be next time.
