This is a beautiful, quiet and luxurious spa resort at the Northern part of Bali. Although it takes 3 -4 hours to get there from Denpasar airport, the drive is very scenic and a lovely experience of Bali by itself. The strength of the resort is its top notch service. The staff is lovely, hospitable, warm and helpful. The spa services is fantastic and I had the most restful and lovely massage and facial. Because there are only about 30 rooms in the whole resort, it is quiet and private. I would love to come again and again but for the price!

Wonderful hotel. Simple but luxurious. Plenty of helpful staff. Great food prepared in part by Yudi Rahmadi a jewel of a man and now a friend! Look out for him and say Hi from me!

Daily treatments are included, and they are good. Try the snorkelling. Gear is provided and a map of the sites. Its a lot better than you might expect. Visit the local markets but they start early (4.30 am some of them) and are done by 9! So up early, visit and back for breakfast. You will probably be the only tourist they see all day. Be prepared for many (if not most) people to shout 'Hello, how are you!" as yiu pass by. Balinese are famously friendly.

Room tip: There are two bungalows available each has a plunge pool but the infinity pool is better! Unless you are a recluse, don't bother.

I have just returned from the most incredible experience - after 6 amazing days at Spa Village. I travelled with a group on a meditation retreat and we were just so looked after and nurtured by all of the staff. If you want to relax and find a quiet and secluded oasis then you will find it here. So calm and tranquill - it really is an escape from the outside world. The staff are just so happy and friendly, the rooms are clean and cool, the pool is the perfect temperature and the food was delicious with just so much variety. And the home made ice creams were amazing! Thank you to every single staff member - you all work so hard and are so good at what you do. I only hope that I can return to this paradise soon

We went to the spa village following Kuoni's recommendation ... the representative said that a lot of her clients have recommended the place- what she probably forgot to tell us was that her clients were closer to around 60years old, where as we were going to celebrate our 1st anniversary.

Location- weather is good in Tembok. The spa village is deserted therefore nothing close by.

Journey to Tembok- 3.5 hours from the airport, around 2hours from Ubud. The journey is up the mountain and I am very mildly car sick and had to get the driver to stop to throw up so if you're car sick, then think hard about this one.
Positive is the driver was lovely, happy to make stops for us on the way and the car was very comfortable.

Staff- on the whole the staff are very pleasant, and did try and accommodate where needed.
The room service was slow, and on numerous occasions took a long time to carry out simple tasks.

Villa- This is where I'm baffled- the villas are not what I considered to be luxury. Basic amenities are provided, but nothing out of the ordinary. We had to ask for a hairdryer, and no iron/ironing board provided.

Food- full board provided. Food tastes good, portions are small. A different menu everyday and chefs do accommodate if you have any problems which is nice.

Overall- if you're looking for pure luxury, go elsewhere. If you want to go to somewhere secluded, and do yoga/sleep all day, then consider Tembok if you're happy to do the journey.
