We stayed at the Purple Unicorn/le Licorne Pourpre for three nights and it was very central for visiting places like Mont St-Michel, St-Malo, Dinan, and Fougeres, all of which we visited while staying there. It was clean, affordable, and gave you a very good breakfast. There were five rooms. Three were for a couple and one for three and another for three or four. It was in a very small village a few KMs west of Pontorson which is a market town for Mont St-Michel and the village was as peaceful as Pontorson was busy.
Manuel did almost all the talking since he spoke passable English and was good at visiting. His wife Sandrine spoke only a little English and she ran a glass jewelry shop that was also in the property.
It did not bother us but there were stairs in the old stone building that might provide someone troubles. One room for three was up one flight and the other rooms were a floor higher. Our mattress was either old or not good but we have had similar ones in France before. I cannot judge the mattresses in other rooms but it is the reason why I did not rate the place higher. There is no place within walking distance for eating lunch or supper.
If you want a place to relax but be close to some great places then we certainly give this spot a good recommendation.More
