After visiting the old Tower of Populonia, I was attracted by the special offer of the near by restaurant that bears the name of the same Tower. This dish of fried small fishes (an assortment that includes i.a. red mullet) was really a lovely meal, most enjoyable with white wine

What an amazing restaurant. Located in the tiny medieval village of Populonia, surrounded by the regular overpriced touristy knickknack shops, and completely unexpected. We started with swordfish wrapped in eggplant. The fish was very fresh and perfectly cooked, the eggplant wrap delicate, with a marvelous combination of tastes and textures. My wife had the turbot, again wonderfully fresh. I had the monkfish, rich and tender with a hint of cranberry with a light breaded crust. The owner was attentive and interested in our experience. One of the best restaurant experiences I have had. I cannot recommend highly enough.

This is the little surprise everyone hopes to discover.Fortunately, our friends knew of this excellent seafood-centric ristorante in this tiny ancient borgo/castello. Looking from the ramparts one can see Corsica! There is an Etruscan museum there too.The Antonio and Maria(she does the cooking) who run this spot have serious chops from experience at a Michelin 2star in Roma to a highly regarded eatery in Fiuggi. This is their way of coasting to retirement! The menu is built upon whatever comes in each morning at the fishing port nearby. Pasta and dolci(OMG!) are delicioso and "fatta in casa". Fresh grilled sardines, frittura mista di paranza, and fresh grilled monkfish were highlights. The wine list is carefully curated and offers many wines to discover. In all this place is a great value! This is definitely on my revisit list. In Summer there are apartments for rent. Can't imagine a livelier place for a restful and scrumptious stay!

I am happy that our family (two adults and two kids) decided to have lunch in this very restaurant! Really! They are famous for homemade pasta and seafood. Everything we tried was worth Michelin stars: the salads, the main course, the deserts, and, of course, the wine. We were warmly welcomed by the owner. He speaks several languages and a very nice person. To tell you the truth, we turned back to this restaurant for another lunch and for the dinner. The atmosphere of the dinner was romantic. Just imagine: night, candles, Medieval architecture… I’d love to visit Italy again, and I would definitely visit this restaurant!

Dear Antonio,

Greetings from Moscow!

Thank you so much for giving us this impression: delicious food in the Medieval tower, welcoming atmosphere, and Italian charm. We liked our discussions and valued your advices. A special compliment to the white wine, you recommended to us.

Wishing you the best in running your business.

Thanks again,
Tatiana

This restaurant has changed owner in the last couple of years and now serves excellent, refined, mainly fish dishes, accompanied by a good selection of well priced wines.

There is a choice of seating either inside or outside, those outside are in the main (pedestrianised) street of the picturesque walled village. The village is high up on the Mediterranean coast with spectacular views over the bay.

The service is excellent, with the owner very much in evidence, ensuring all food is promptly and well served.

Wonderful food, spectacular settings at a very reasonable price
