Four of us had a superb meal at Barzaari last night. The name is a Persian one; the restaurant website describes it as "eastern mediterranean" and the dishes are like the best ones you've ever eaten at Lebanese, Turkish and Middle Eastern restaurants. The kitchen revolves around the wood-fired oven and the char-grill; the pita bread is cooked to order and comes out of the oven, warm, with excellent dips. The meat is superb but there are plenty of vegetarian options as well. Great wine list and lovely atmosphere.

Modern funky spacious restaurant set alone in semi industrial region in inner west Sydney (easier to find parking than main restaurant strips). Only one sitting so good if you don’t want to feel rushed.
None of the dishes are large (luckily or wouldn’t fit on small tables), so more like having modern Turkish, Cypriot or Greek Tapas.
Modern variations on old classics, which although very good mostly don’t have that wow factor. Pick of the savoury choices sheftalia (meatballs), kingfish carpaccio & lamb rump. The warmed buttermilk ricotta dessert certainly scored a wow, whilst the backlava was average and the milopita (apple pie) with mango had too much clove which overpowered the taste (minor whinge).
Service friendly and good.
Good choice of drinks.
Table for 4 really a table for 2 as couldn’t fit bottle of wine or bottle of water (major whinge). Seats slightly uncomfortable (minor whinge).
Overall a good experience, but wouldn’t go out of my way to go back unless invited.

We ate at Barzaari recently having booked on account of Trip Advisor reviews. This restaurant is a gem. The menu is tantalising with so much to choose from with wonderful presentation and flavours. We ordered shared vegetarian plates and had plenty to choose from. The service was very attentive, the interior space cleverly designed and decorated and the best thing is it is NOT noisy inside. Excellent food and wine and very friendly pleasant staff. A definitely good dining experience. We will be back.

This restaurant was the choice of restaurant owner friends of mine who seem to know where all the good places are. It is a very cool, modern space in a pretty grungy industrial part of Marrickville. As someone mentioned.... if we were in Melbourne this would have been an instant tick. We were a group of 10 and were at the restaurant at peak hour Friday night.

Food is modern Greek. Our friends like to try everything on the menu so we can give a pretty good summation of the food. We started with oysters followed by labne and an octopus and potato crisp dish....all good.

This was followed by haloumi, ceviche and a hummus dip again all good. Real highlights were the proteins however with the pork, beef and fish dishes wonderfully flavoured, tender and moorish. We also had sides of okra, pumpkin and cauliflower.

Service was great and they coped easily with 10 gregarious people who were sharing food. All round the experience was excellent. Nice space, very good food and wine and friendly, easy going service. I would say my companions would be hard to please but rated this restaurant highly.
