“wonderful place”
Reviewed 19 March 2012

Modern design hotel, very comfortable. We have spent there 2 nights on our travel around Basque country and this was very good experience.
ROOM
large, comfortable room. Modern design, concrete walls, huge window. Potentially some privacy issue - there are no door to the toilet what makes use of it quite uncomfortable, Good soundproofing which is always important for me.
RESTAURANT
very good - nouvelle cusine what here means - small but very good portions. Good selection of local wines. Very good breakfast.
RECEPTION SERVICE
Just perfect.
LOCATION
In the middle of nowhere. You need a car to go out of hotel. Very good base for the travelling around Rioja nad Basque country. Lot of good bodegas to visit within 20 minutes drive. But if you like to have a nice and long walk in the evening - this is nit the right place. We have spent there 2 nights and considered this place as a base for travelling. But I honestly believe that 2 nights is just a maximum for a comfortable stay.
If you are looking for a comfortable base for a travelling around La Rioja and Basque country - this place is clearly recommendable.

Amazing architecture but not only because the building is unique but because albeit being so contemporary it seems to fit in perfectly with the quiet village of Villabuena.
Rooms are spacious and have charming views of the village. It was too cold to use the rooftop terrace but the views are spectacular.
Dinner on our first night was good but a bit slow. However service on the second night was great, friendly and with wine barrels hanging over your head....an esthetic experience !

Room Tip: If you can afford it, book a suite. We had 302 and our friends had 304. Both were corner suites wi...

We loved this hotel: its architecture, delicious breakfast, nice barmeals, the location in a small, sleepy Spanish village. The room was very spacious, with a super-bed, loveseat and nice tub! We toured the RIoja region - we can recommend the Museo de la Cultura del Vino in Briones - a real treat to find out everything you always wanted to know about wine!

Stayed here to relax, and there location and surrounding is perfect for this.
Very stylish modern Hotel in the middle of a tiny village in Rioja. Every room is different and furnished very nicely. Good breakfast, and great restaurant for dinner with local wines.

We just concluded a two night stay at the Viura Hotel int he Spanish wine region and we could not be happier. As ours was a last minute decision to go there, we sent reception an email the same morning of our arrival. Within 5 minutes we had answers on availability of rooms, a reservation int he restaurant as well as bookings at two great bodegas. The young lady at the front desk, Patricia, went above and beyond the call of duty in helping us with all our logistics. She is a great asset to the hotel.
The property itself is very cool. In the middle of an old, traditional spanish village stands this architectural masterpiece which, although ultra modern, somehow manages to blend into the landscape. The location is fantastic, only minutes away from ElCiego, Laguardia (a must see!) and Logroño (not that great). Our room was very comfortable, good TV, minibar, safe (laptop sized) and excellent wi-fi with strong signal. The top floor has couches and seats outside and is a great place to have a last glass of wine as the sun sets. That was one of our favorite spots. The restaurant staff was very nice and attentive. The breakfast is generous, fresh and very diverse.
We had dinner at the restaurant one night. It was wonderful and the chef has skills. All in all, aside from initially finding the place (gps fault, not hotel), we had absolutely no complaints and we look forward to going back someday.

Room Tip: The adjacent church has a belltower and they take their bells seriously. If sleeping past 9 is an is...
