Montana De Fuego Mountain Resort & Spa is such a beautiful place. The staff are welcoming, very helpful, and there to make your experience as peaceful and relaxing as possible. The location is about 2 to 2/12 hours from San Jose airport depending on traffic. But it is well worth the drive. I recommend you book your flights during the day because the lighting is very limited if any in certain areas. You have to drive through winding roads through the mountain. But don't be nervous. The roads are well paved. You can site see along the way and experience phenomenal views which make the drive seem like nothing. Once you arrive you get the perfect view of the volcano. In the morning you hear the beautiful sounds of nature and when it rains it sounds like a soft shower. The location is conveniently positioned right across from a mini market, souvenir shop, and excursion company "GoAdventure". It is easy to get your necessities, buy souvenirs, and book your adventures. I recommend bringing American cash to purchase your excursions because you will get a better discount. Plus everyone there prefers it. You are also only 10-15 minutes from the local town "La Fortuna" where there are so many shops, restaurants, etc. The resort has its own restaurant as well if you prefer not to go out. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner and also offer room service. The food was absolutely delicious. Make sure you enjoy the hot springs and volcanic mud. Your skin will thank you. If you want to take it a step further and enjoy the Spa you will not be disappointed. Ruth helped us plan our couple spa treatment and we were not disappointed. Our therapists were Karol and Rocio. They have an amazing touch. Be ware you may fall asleep. We had a massage, volcanic body mask/scrub, and sauna package totaling 2 hours. We highly recommend. This place is so special. I have never felt sad leaving a vacation. I will definitely miss this place and will be back!
