We stayed here for 5 nights as part of an Auswalk package. The rooms are simple but comfortable and clean. The restaurant offers hearty food and the staff are friendly and hospitable. The location is outstanding backing on to the Macdonnell Ranges with a short walk to the exquisite Glen Helen Gorge. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

We recently camped here on a powered site for one night in a 4x4 with rooftop tent.
The premises are well located, a bit away from the road. The view of the nearby ridge is beautiful and the gorges only a short walk away.
The reception was warm and friendly.
The main building, with the restaurant and the homestead bar is… how should I say … dilapidated or rustic? Let me keep it to the latter: it is all part of the authentic outback experience, isn’t it?
We did not eat in the restaurant but the beer and soft drinks were lovely and cool.
There are several ablution blocks scattered around the homestead grounds. The largest, recently built, is light and airy with clean showers and toilets. Others are fit up in containers. These were substandard. With 4 toilet/shower combinations per container they were tight. Moreover, they were very hot due to the lack of ventilation and as a consequence they did not look very fresh. Although there was such a container close to our camping site, we quickly moved to the new sanitary block to take a shower.
The powered sites were really small. With our rooftop tent it all went fine, but I saw that campers with a caravan had difficulty getting well maneuvered.
In some reviews I read that there is not much grass. Given the location, I found that no problem. A green lawn sprayed every day with the scarce water would be much worse.
I do not understand that the camping pitches, despite the enormous free space available, are so cramped. However, this is something that I experienced on all the camping’s I visited in Australia. I have some experience with camping with a rooftop tent in southern Africa. There too is a lot of space, but the pitches are correspondingly. Often you do not even see your closest neighbour camper. Sometimes each camping site even has its own toilet and shower! No, Australia is the developing country for that matter.

Hi janssens10, Thank you for taking the time to review our campground. We agree that our location is beautiful and we are pleased that you appreciated it. It's difficult to maintain grass in the Australian outback as you mention. In relation to the amenities blocks, we built the new block earlier this year to replace the older blocks that we hope to phase out over time. We are a new management team and the camping ground is something we plan to look at after the busy season. We do thank you for your feedback as this will assist us with our planning. Kind regards, Anji Kemp - Director of Sales & Marketing

We recently stayed in the Campground, they are small sites and close together, but that didnt bother us. The campground shower /toilets are quite primitive, and the site and grounds were not well maintained or very tidy, around our site there was weeds and rubbish. The setting is lovely and the bar and restaurant area was nice. Could be a lovely spot with a bit of care and maintenance.

Hi maryridg23, Thank you for taking the time to review our Lodge. We are pleased that you liked out location and specifically our restaurant and bar. Winter is our peak season and we find it challenging at times to keep up with our guests if they don't maintain our campground in a neat and tidy state. It's unfortunate a small number of inconsiderate users may spoil the experience for others. It's a pity you didn't get to use the amenities block closest to the main Lodge building as it was constructed earlier this year and is brand new. We have taken your comments on board and hope to see you again in the future. Kind regards, Anji Kemp - Director of Sales & Marketing

I rode up here and spent a night in the camp ground. I rode back next day and checked out all the gorges along the way back to Alice springs. I think it's sort of a night club for the locals as there is a bar and usually a band playing. Groups of locals found there way up there that night (could have been a weekend thing), got pissed and headed back probably to camp at one of the gorges. This was a little unsettling. The restaurant serves meals which are a little overpriced for what you get. They try and serve classy food but get a 'B' in my book. Still an interesting place to visit. The trip itself is amazing.

Hi Piotr K,
Thank you for taking the time to review our Lodge. We are a popular dining facility for locals and visitors, and we are pleased to hear that the restaurant and bar was busy during your stay. Our meal prices may seem somewhat more than city restaurants, however our pricing is in line with other restaurants in the region, and what is necessary considering our remote location. We agree that teh trip out here is 'worth it' and we hope that you spread the word.

We were only passing through and decided to have a late lunch. We got there at 2:15pm and kitchen closes for lunch at 2:30pm. The staff were so accommodating and welcoming despite our 15min window for ordering. We had a huge round table out under the veranda overlooking the water and cliffs. It was such a relaxing place to have a meal whilst on our dusty travels. Highly recommend stopping here for good, honest, friendly service.
