We last stayed at The Peacock three years ago and could instantly tell that Martin and his staff have made some nice upgrades. There were a couple of things that could have been a bit better (some marks on the walls, a tub/shower wall that leaked if you didn’t have the shower wand quite a bit off to the side, and a hand-towel ring that seemed about to come out of the wall. Nice, comfortable bed, outstanding staff, and a great English breakfast every morning make this a wonderful experience. As a country inn in the very scenic Chilterns you cannot go wrong here.

Just had a night here with my wife, what a lovely place to get away !
Martin the owner of the hotel gave us a warm greeting on arrival and explained everything to us.
Lovely clean quiet room complete with large four poster bed and modern bathroom. Shower was excellent by the way !
We ate in the restaurant - food was absolutely superb, and the service impeccable.
Lovely bar in which to relax for a bit and plenty of outdoor seating for warmer evenings.
Excellent breakfast served in the morning by very friendly staff.
The Peacock is definitely worth a visit - I will certainly recommend to others.
Our only regret is that we couldn't have stayed longer !

Service was punctual and of good knowledge. Bar staff were quick in refilling your glass
Food was tasteful and of good price

Will return

We were expecting a tasty enjoyable lunch experience, but felt let down.

Good points: old country pub atmosphere, very clean and good beer. Has a nice outdoor space which would be good in warm weather.

Bad points: Part of the enjoyment of having a Sunday lunch out is the time spent enjoying the atmosphere and savouring your food . A shame the staff didn’t realise this. From the time we sat down we were just hurried from course to course. No time to digest, even though we asked they give us time after the starter, within two minutes the next course was out. Eventually after completing two courses and drinks within 35 minutes, we’d quite literally had enough and took our leave.

Food was just about average for the price; it lacked taste. Yes it was busy and a certain degree of Pre prep is necessary but fresh veg and better quality bread for a start would make a difference. Quality over quantity.

Will we return? Maybe for just a drink but not a meal.
