What's not to love about Nethergong? This is our second visit and we're already planning to go again next Summer. By far our favourite campsite. It's so peaceful, the children can run off into the woods and onto the tyre swings, hunt for frogs, look at the ducks, watch bats at night, campfires and lovely starry skies...

We camped in the woods again this year, which is lovely in the heat as you get beautiful dappled shade.

The Owners are wonderful and so helpful. Having a cafe now and an on-site pizza oven just makes everything even better.

Camping in the woods means we use the shower block near the House and I've always found in clean and well looked after. There's a fridge and freezer for campers to use, a washing machine, sockets for charging those devices that you can't live without, under cover washing up, an outdoor shower. They're all unisex, which makes it much easier to get everyone ready as a family.

Can't praise Nethergong enough.

We booked nethergong back in December without reading reviews and I'm glad we did
A lovely relaxing quiet break has been had by us all.
Our youngest boys loved the frog pond probably a bit too much by the wet shoes and dirty legs.
Pitches have no electricity which made them all go cold turkey from phones and games which was lovely as all three of my boys went exploring and made friends around the site.
We stopped along the avenue a lovely pitch with views across the pond.
The toilets and showers are basic but clean and are obviously checked regularly.
A campsite is only as good as its campers and while we were there most were lovely and respectful of the fact its a family site and very quiet once it gets dark.

We stayed here for 2 nights in an area they call the chicken run, it’s not far from the lake and the shower block. Very spacious pitches where you can setup where you like. Once we had setup, we were amazed at how quiet it was.

We have 2 daughters of 10 & 13 and there was not a lot for them to do on their own so make sure you have things to entertain your children.

They have a pizza oven on site but annoyingly this is only used a couple of time a week, so we missed out.

The cafe/shop seemed to close when they feel like it. So, sending our ladies twice to buy cold drinks was a waste of time one day

The showers and toilets we used were a very basic wooden structure, quite dirty, smelly with cobwebs in the higher areas which wasn’t that nice. We camp quite a big and used to using better facilities.

There are a couple of upright fridges for campers to use (we didn’t), but these seemed to be constantly packed so full, they wouldn’t even close properly.

Mosquitoes are a BIG issue here as there are lakes and ponds. You will get eaten alive if you are not prepared with repellent. Keep your tent zipped up to keep them or you will be nibbled all though the night.

Nice place, but just be prepared so you can make the most of the place.

This is actually our 3rd trip here!
That in itself is a positive review, but there's more.
The new cafe serves better coffee than the high street big names! Simply AMAZING (and I really am a coffee snob... I DON'T do instant rubbish coffee)!!
Christine and ALL the crew there simply are lovely and can't do enough to make your stay really enjoyable. I camp alot, but this is my favourite camping site for back to basics!
Very powerful showers and ALWAYS plenty of hot water.
Such a relaxed atmosphere and very safe for kids.
Thank you guys and looking forward to re-visiting you next year! 5 STARS!!

I visited Nethergong for the first time but it certainly won't be the last time! This campsite has open and woodland camping as well as glamping options, of which we chose to camp in the woodland to escape the heat! There is a little shop, pizza oven and cafe run by lovely, friendly people. This place is ideal for families as the no amplified music rule obviously isn't appealing for party animals, so we found it to be peaceful and pleasant. The best thing,in my opinion, is the cleanliness of the shower, toilet and washing facilities! Having recently had to write a poor review about another campsite, I was very pleased to find a site where the owners care about the state of their facilities and clearly invest in them. My only suggestions to the owners is to have a slightly better savoury stock in the cafe and shop and also waste paper bins in the toilets for the things that don't belong down the loo or in the sanitary waste bin.
The location of the site is great for visiting coast and Canterbury and there is the Grove Ferry nearby for river trips, canoeing etc and a lovely pub. Highly recommend this campsite and we'll definitely go back.
