My wife and I visited The Black Pig for the first time since it was re-opened a while ago. It was a Saturday evening and, on arrival, it seemed pretty busy which is always a good sign. The restaurant was about half full.
We didn't have starters but instead dived straight into main courses. I had a steak & chorizo pie with chips & mixed veg and my wife had a salmon tart with new potatoes and salad. My pie was very large with lots of filling and a rich sauce, chips were fine and the red cabbage in the mixed veg was pickled, which was an unexpected but nice twist. My wife's was equally good.
If I had a criticism it would be that there didn't seem to be air conditioning in the restaurant so it got really quite hot and I imagine it will be sweltering in the summer, even with the doors to the garden open.
Overall, it was excellent value for money and I'd definitely go back to try a different pie.
