Stayed here on our way to and from the UK. Its location in a small village can make you believe that your Tom Tom is playing up - It isn't. Large off road parking. We had our evening meal in the restaurant both nights - very good. less than 10minutes to the Dover Ferry Port. We had room 1, nice size and the on suite appears to have been rescently redecorated to a high standard.

Needed somewhere to stay for one night to attend a wedding nearby. Took a chance , booked online and am very happy i did. Traditional old pub, lots of character with a clean neat bedroom (room 1) sleeps 3. Staff were great , very happy.

Booked a table for Easter Sunday for a special family meal. Our table wasn't ready as people hadn't finished eating; we decided to sit at another table. When our food came the plates and Yorkshire puddings were cold, the veg was limited and luke warm; the nut roast looked odd and was burnt to a frazzle, impossible to cut. My nephew was too polite to say that he couldn't cut his pork it was so hard. We complained about the nut roast and it was replaced with a fresh one, with fresh roast potatoes. Our roast potatoes had obviously been reheated.
We would have liked to have been offered desserts and coffees, but no one could be bothered to come to our table.
Very disappointing that a chef can put such overcooked and reheated food on customers' plates, and that staff can be so poorly trained.

A warm and welcoming pub with a roaring log fire we were greeted by Joe who couldn't have been more helpful. Joe showed us to room number two a bit on the small side but clean and tidy. The food was very good the pub has a lovely atmosphere and after a very enjoyable evening we retired to our room at about nine thirty we were exhausted after a long day. We could hear shouting and swearing from the busy kitchen located below it turned out to be a very noisy night with staff going up and down the stairs banging the emergency exit door twice testing the alarmed door to the bar. Just some advice if your staying over take some ear plugs!
