The place is rated 5 stars for SA Tourism, however despite the very nice and historical building a little bit more investment should be done to improve the B&B. The two persons running the place do everything they can, however the property should dedicate some more effort to improve the comfort.

First there was no electricity and cats are wondering around, not all of us like cats. roomz were cold no heat. No room TV, we had dinner with no dessert and when we asked about the dessert we were told we should have specified that we needed dessert. I will never go back there again it was horrible.

We do experience frequent power outages in our area , however we have three generators on site which takes ten minutes to start up and supply lights and water to all the rooms. Our feral cat issue is being dealt with by ourselves and " cats of Durban". We are implementing televisions in our rooms but this will take time. Our dinner is a one - course meal and is charged accordingly. Dessert is gladly made for all our guests that make prior arrangements. We do offer extra blankets for those guests that feel that they might need them.

While i can see Kearsney manor was once a lovely old manor house, and great effort has been put into it being accomodation ... it would benefit from being cosier, more welcoming less cavernous.
One big issue is that cats roam the venue and jump on dining tables, walk over plates etc. I am a cat lover, I have cats of my own but i dot think in a multi-cultural environment its appropriate to have cats in the kitchen and dining room. The cats also fought all night. The rooms were lovely but very cold and there was no heating which is a dealbreaker for me. the beds, furniture, staff etc were lovely but there are things that need to be worked on.

Thank you for the feedback on your stay with us. We are aware that there are feral cats living in the surrounding plantations that do roam our premises from time to time. We have addressed this issue with " Cats of Durban " who are helping us in this regard. We have one of these feral cats that does enter the guest house on occasion but we try our utmost to keep it out of the kitchen and dining areas.

A wonderful guest house in a great location. Very historic and interesting. Some superb rooms but also less excellent rooms. Friendly service. Participants expected a dessert although this was not mentioned in your correspondence. Best to check.

There had been a wedding on the Saturday night, we arrived after 5.30 (had advised arrival between 5-6pm). The ladies toilets in the reception area had not been cleaned and were covered in vomit.
We were taken upstairs and when we opened the interleading door to the second bedroom found that the bed was not even made up. Our son was put in another room on the opposite side of the Manor in a room with four beds, one of which was made (presumably not used by the wedding party the night before) We were offered no discount or apology and the management only blamed their staff.
At breakfast the next morning there were no serviettes on the tables and we had to ask for milk for the coffee
When it came time to leave my husband waited and waited, the manageress was on the phone and did not even acknowledge him waiting outside the office door

The wedding of the previous night ended very late and our housekeepers were doing their utmost to restore order and cleanliness to the guest house. We were aware of the soiled public bathroom and had an Out of Order sign displayed on the door.
The second bedroom wasn't made up as the staff thought only two guests were staying over. This was a misunderstanding and the staff were not blamed for this , we apologized that the room wasn't ready. The only other bed available was in one of the 3 sleepers.
The manageress apologized to the lady and her son for the inconvenience and offered to discount the accommodation and make up the bed in adjoining bedroom. The lady's response was not to worry.
There are always milk sachets and cremora available at the coffee station , as well as serviettes.
The manageress apologizes for not seeing the gentleman outside her office whilst she was on the phone. We do not ignore our guests on purpose as they are very important to us. Once again we do apologize for any inconvenience caused.
