Description: The Fat Goose gives you a country restaurant and bar, situated in the rural village of Tendring we can offer a relaxed country escape just off the A120, about 15 minutes drive from Colchester, Harwich, or the Coastal towns of Finton and Clacton. We are delighted to announce that we have retained our AA rosette for culinary excellence for the eighth consecutive year. The restaurant serves classic dishes with a modern twist and reflects the seasonal availability. The menu is enhanced with frequently changing specials and everything is prepared on site using fresh local produce. Try our "Lunch with Chef", this menu gives no choice but superb value and offers you the chance to try innovative dishes at a very realistic price We pride ourselves in serving food of the highest standard in a relaxed and unpretentious style. Our onsite florist will also take orders plus of course we offer a varied display of planters and fresh flowers. We are a family owned and operated restaurant and welcome well behaved children and offer baby changing facilities, highchairs and booster seats. The children's menu offers dishes prepared to the same high standards using totally natural ingredients. We have a garden and terrace for the warmer weather where you can dine alfresco and during the cooler months the restaurant offers a cosy warm, candle lit ambiance We look forward to welcoming you to The Fat Goose at Tendring

Visited here on Saturday lunchtime for my husband's birthday. Restaurant was very quiet as several customers eating outside. All 5 of us decided not to have starters and our mains arrived fairly quickly, they were delicious, the chicken melted in the mouth, according to my husband. Our desserts were all beautifully presented and also delicious. The 2 girls on duty were friendly and helpful, my husband even got a candle in his dessert!! We will definitely be taking visiting friends there during the summer. It isn't cheap but no dearer than some other restaurant/pubs in the area

Called late afternoon on a busy Saturday, still managed to fit us in for that evening (just!). The usual lovely welcome when we got there, followed by wild mushroom, potato and quail egg salad for me & baked goat’s cheese wrapped in parma ham for the SO. Both delicious, and creatively served. Mains - I had their homemade burger (again), absolutely spot on. Partner had stuffed chicken breast with boulangère potatoes - chicken was fab (I stole a chunk), spuds were heavy on the stock and could have been hotter - still very tasty though. Desserts - I had ice cream (too stuffed by then for anything more substantial, partner had chocolate cheesecake which vanished in about as much type it's taken me to type this sentence. Three courses of top grub plus wine for £65 - good value, I reckon.
Hadn't realised that set menu has now been introduced Tuesday to Friday - £12/£15 for 2/3 courses, will report back..........

I recently visited the Fat goose in Tendring, there was 13 of us and what a lovely afternoon we had.

The food is quite pricey but I am used to London prices so wasn't to much of a shock.

The staff were very helpful and considering our group consisted of all age groups and young toddlers they kept their patience with all our needs.

We only decided on this place as a family member had recently moved in to the area, so we are happy to have found a nice warm welcoming venue that are happy to have children in.

I would happily recommend and hopefully return very soon

Had a lovely meal for a table of 13. All served together and food was good. Service was great too.
Great Sunday lunches. Large garden at back of pub. And large car park.
