We stopped her for a couple of hours from our sail an the Windjammer and it was so gorgeous. The bartender Andrew was so nice and helpful. I know he is only there for a short time helping out, but he will be missed I'm sure. King the regular bartender was very funny and very nice. We were so impressed that we are hoping to stay at this resort next year for vacation. You definitely want to stay here if you are looking for some rest and relax time.

We were on a sale trip with friends and decided to stay on shore because Tenuta was such a deal... we did not regret it!! Our cottage was spacious and the bed was comfortable. We woke up in the morning and drank coffee on our private deck... a family of pygmy goats played in the grass as they made their way to the beach... so cool!!! After breakfast we were headed out to the deck and our dingy wouldn't start... they helped us figure out the problem and get on our way. After go out of their way to help us they were surprised we tipped them... they were just doing it to be nice!! LOVED THIS PLACE!!! All of our boatmates were jealous of our stay!!

My husband and I stayed one night at Chatham Bay. We had planned to stay for longer but it was full for our dates so we stayed elsewhere and came here for our last night on the island. We really enjoyed our stay but there were some real down sides which we feel are not made clear on booking - either on booking.com which is how we booked, or on the hotel's own website. Firstly getting to the hotel is not easy! We heard while on the island that it was quite a hike to the hotel so we contacted them by email to ask how we would get to the hotel and if it was right that we couldn't get there by road. We were told that the hotel would arrange a water taxi for us. Great, or so we thought! The taxi was 20mins late picking us up at the arranged time (not a big deal but apparently that was minor compared to other reviews) and we were surprised to see that it was a very basic local fishing boat. In itself this was not really a problem for us as we are island people and have our own sea fishing boat at home so are not the types who expect luxury. But there was not anything at all to hold on to, nor so much as a seat with a back or a cushion. The sea was very rough so we struggled to stay seated (the skipper was skilful and knew how to drive in the conditions but it was never going to be a comfortable ride). We both have bad backs which could be seriously affected by this kind of boat trip and so whilst not wishing to complain, we were not really very impressed. Anyhow once safely there the hotel was lovely and the cottage (only currently three of them, more to come apparently) was very comfortable and stylish with a lovely veranda, a huge comfy bed and a huge bathroom. We walked up the beach to the few local restaurants whilst waiting for our room to be ready. Had a very nice fish lunch (watch out for being ripped off tho!) and spent the rest of the day by the lovely calm and peaceful pool back at the hotel. In the evening, fabulous sunset by the way, my husband was drinking rum and coke but after one drink the hotel ran out of coke (so no rum and coke - er hello, isn't that a very popular Caribbean beverage?) seemed odd to us as it would have been very easy to run up the beach and buy or borrow from the other restaurants in order to keep the hotel guests happy! Dinner was very good though and so was breakfast!
In the morning we noticed while having breakfast that part of the wooden pier had washed away through the night. We were concerned as although the water taxi arrived on time the sea was rough making it very difficult to get from the pier onto the boat (the connecting ramp had washed away) and we had a flight to catch. We managed it in the end but it was pretty hairy and we felt lucky to have managed it without a serious accident. This hotel is not cheap and we feel sure that some people visiting would be older and less active than us so can't imagine how others would find the boat trip and the kind of situation we had to deal with to get on the boat.
To add insult to injury, we later found that the hotel had charged us £110 for the boat taxi ride despite there having been no mention of any charges when it was all arranged by email. Though this was refunded when we queried it, we felt it was a bit poor to charge us without evening asking for authorisation but I guess some people just swallow it and don't complain.
Incidentally the hotel website says the hotel runs a free shuttle to the hotel but that an airport shuttle has an additional cost.

Room tip: only three cottages to choose from one - we never stayed in it but I would request the one closest to the beach

The location is idyllic! Super quite and could be at the level of 5 * with some improvements....

1) The situation is exceptional, because it can be reached only by taxi boat (15 minutes) 150 EC$, or walking 90 minutes from the main city (Clifton)... alternately walking 30 minutes at the top of the hill and call a taxi to go to town (50EC$)..
2) Breakfast is a bit strange, as it dépend of the chief availability and product... no fresh fruit juice, sometime cereal, sometime pancake... always bread with factory Jam and butter... no expresso or cappuccino... hope the Italian owner of the property bring his coffee machine when he visit the resort!
3) the meals were good and following your choice.... mainly fresh fish or lobster from local fisherman
4) swimming pool had a filtering chemical problem... the water was not Cristal clear... pity....
5) the beach is very nice looking, but for swimming a lot of seaweed spoil the pleasure.... pity
6) I find the price too high at the end, because it is necessary to add the water taxi (300 EC $ return), 2,5 % on everything for credit card debit by the hotel (plus 2,5 % by my bank!).
In addition the side expenses are calculated in EC $ and debit in us$ at the rate of the hotel....
All together 832 us$ for 3 nights for two... 277 us$ per night...
therefore the ratio quality price isn’t good...
7) Welcome and service is good because the staff is extremely friendly and relax!

words can't accurately describe this peace of paradise in Chatham Bay, but it is an off the grid downtime heaven and not for those who seek a bit of nightlife nor an active bar nor a nearby disco. Getting to Chatham Bay is the only possible downside, via boat taxi or 4x4, but the journey is well worth it. An empty beach, with only 3 cottages, great staff service and all round great modern facilities. Special mention and thanks to Leisa & the staff for their kind attention.
