The resort is still pleasant enough and we arrived early with our ferry and we were checked in straight away which was great. The room was adequate and comfortable but needs some care the shower head was mouldy and couldn't be turned and the pressure wasn't great. The bath towels aware also old and torn. The rest of The resort is well maintained and breakfast was adequate and reasonable variety on offer. The resort is well positioned with access to all Railay has to offer quite easily. Railay unfortunately has lost its charm completely for us. It used to be a getaway from the hustle and bustle of busy tourist centers in Thailand and was appealing to me for the natural beauty of the place and the quiet one could enjoy there. That is all gone Pranang beach is over run by day boats and boats ferrying people from Aonang. The beach has become unpleasant and is full of garbage, the monkeys that live here have lost there fear of people and will gladly jump on you to raid your bag for a snack and constantly raid the garbage left by visitors. I fear it's only a matter of time before a swimmer is hit by a longtail boat. The quiet beautiful secluded place Railay was 7 years ago is no longer there and it is now much like phi phi with many grocery stores and throngs of people. I won't be back and this was my favorite please in Thailand.

We have only positive things to say about our experience here. Absolutely loved our 16 night stay at this great hotel It's not overly developed like some of the hotels around, it's small and feels intimate, The grounds are lush, with a jungle vibe. At night the frogs and cicadas sing :) we even had a kamodo dragon in our front pond and could watch the monkeys devour the fruit in the trees. The location of the hotel is great too, equal distance from the two beaches and close wander to the restaurants and bars.. . The room was very good & newly decorated with an excellent bathroom, Our room overlooked the pool and the east coast water & when the tide is high it was beautiful ..we could actually lay in bed and see the beautiful sunrise. The location is great and right next to the hotel is the lane that takes you to Railay West. The staff were very friendly & helpful and let us check in early. Phranang beach is literally around the corner through a spectacular cave. The location of this hotel is paradise!
This is our 8th visit to beautiful Railay and although we normally stay on the west side we highly recommend both the hotel and Railay

Enjoy the reasonably priced taxi & longtail boat transfer to & from Sunrise Tropical. The ten minute boat trip is heavenly. Having arrived on the short pier immediately in front of the hotel, we received a friendly welcome & refreshing drink. However, from there on in it was pretty much downhill.
We only had one evening meal at the hotel. The meals were bland and the service was very much "take it or leave it" from staff who looked generally disinterested and unhappy. We stayed in a Chalay room in a two storey building close to the pool. The room was tired and in need of some tlc. Ditto for the public areas of the site.
Wifi was weak & flakey.
That the hotel websites Special Offers / Promotions are 3+ years out of date, gives you a feel of the attention to detail at this hotel.
This hotel has clearly seen better times and needs an investment of cash and positive attitude to achieve what it claims to be.
On the plus side - rooms were clean and the buffet breakfast was very good.

My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights over new year. The hotel was reasonably clean and the the rooms were large and comfortable. Only real gripe of our room was that our double bed was 2 singles pushed together so there was also a gap in the middle of the bed and the mattresses sounded like there was a pair of fighting monkeys inside every time you moved!

The biggest let down of the hotel was the restaurant and was our worst dining experience of our 22day trip to thailand and possibly my life. It took about 20 minutes after ordering our meals and drinks for the drinks to arrive. (A coke and a water, not exactly cocktails) then after what felt like an eternity our main meals came out, but the problem being was we had ordered starters! Our main meals went back to the kitchen with no apologies from any staff, and we waited again for our starters.
Once we had finally eat them we could see the waitress running around the restaurant with our mains, clearly no idea who they were for and when she finally worked it out they were stone cold. There had been no attempt to keep them warm whilst we eat our starters. We sent them back and again and with not the slightest apologies from the staff we really considered upping and leaving. After our meals were slightly warmed up out came what can only be described as pasta with a bit of cheese on top. An absolutely terrible meal with lazy and uncaring staff. It was a complete shambles.
I would possibly recommend the hotel as it does represent good value compared to other hotels in railay. But for good god don't eat there!!

This place smells, I'm not sure if it's sewage or something natural but it's awful and turns your stomach. They also have loads of little ponds around where one morning I saw two floating dead fish. On arrival we killed no joke twenty mosquitos in our bungalow but actually then had to ask at reception for mosquito nets! The breakfast is cold, the food containers old and dirty the fruit not the best. Only nice bit was the scrambled eggs if you could be bothered to stand in the queue and then queue again for toast. The staff were rude and only once did one actually smile and say good morning! The swimming pool is too small and crowded. The walls are too thin and you hear everything from your neighbours so pray they don't have lots of loud chump a dump, or that they don't have kids that wake up at 6:30! Make sure you take plenty of mosquito spray. On the positive side our air conditioner was quiet.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else
