We stayed here during a honeymoon tour of Greece and it was perfect. The owner was always there and very engaged with guests. We felt like we were staying at his home. The landscape is beautiful and the cottages were lovely. There are good hiking trails near the resort and good beaches and wineries within an hours drive. Very convenient to many great attractions in Crete.

This eco-hotel is a real paradise in central Crete Mountains.
Location: on mountain slope, near Zaros village, hidden in olive trees grove, 40 minutes from Iraklion airport. Access is pretty easy as you can get directions with photos at the hotel web site. Rouva forest is in 1-2 hours hiking reach (picturesque route is not very difficult but definitely not for children). Lake Votomos is ~10 minutes by foot.
Rooms: you get a separate house with large room (fireplace included!), small kitchen and bathroom with bathtub. Also you have your private terrace with table, chairs and sunbeds - perfect place for romantic night under the stars. Tap water is drinkable and tastes really good!
Activities: Eleonas is not for typical Crete vacation. It is for complete relaxation, enjoying nature and hiking. If you are found of beach-style vacation – Eleonas is not your best choice, as nearest beach is in ~30 minutes car ride. This is a nice starting point for exploring central part of Crete, if you are not afraid of mountain roads, of course.
Food: Hotel restaurant is really one of the best on Crete with changing “meal of the day” dinner menu. If you like to diversify eating places: you are very welcome to the lake restaurant or to Zaros taverns. Grilled local trout is a meal to die for. Smoked trout is also perfect.
Breakfast is good, however, there is a lack of sweet batch. We could find only one sweet cake for breakfast.
Overall impression: hotel host and lady at the restaurant are very friendly - they made our stay very pleasant. After leaving this place you feel like you have spent your vacations in your friends' country house. This was a lovely experience.

Room tip: Not all houses are totally secluded. Best cottages are at the edge of the territory perimeter, further from reception / restaurant area.

Visited here last year and would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Crete. We stayed for 4 nights before moving along to Chania. The highlight was the food and the warm welcome from all the staff. The complex was very clean and we even received a free bottle of wine on arrival! Will be back!

One of the best places I have stayed.. Very friendly staff.. Manolis, the owner, is a great guy and makes sure your stay is wonderful..
The resort is on the hills- very quiet and tranquil location..
The rooms are great, well equipped.. Resort also has a small swimming pool.
Highly recommended

Wife and I had a relaxing 3 days after the early morning flight to Heraklion. Only an hour by car. Might as well be a year as you slip into relaxation. Manolis and staff are so good. Went down to beach about 40 minutes away. All fine. Regrets - did not have enough time ...but then in Crete you never will.
