“The place keeps getting better!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 March 2012

I have been here a number of times and have written a number of reviews. I can honestly tell you that this time the club has never looked better. We did not stay in our usual room in the villas but instead we stayed in a reef suite. The ocean view is incredible and waking up to a cup of coffee on the terrace is as good as it gets. One of the wonderful things about this place is that there are so many different places to hang to fit your style. If you want ocean front there is a beach, if you want the calm sunset bay there is a beach, if you want the large pool there is one of those as well as several small private pools some of which are for children or adults only. The place was clean and neat and it is a great value in the caribbean.

We have spent 10 wonderful days at St. James Club in the middle of February. This is a great resort that deserves our best compliments. It was a peak season and still the resort did not feel overcrowded – we always could find a pair of beach chairs in the shade either on the ocean or at the bay (this is actually my main criteria of a classy resort), the pools and bars were almost empty and it was not a problem to get a reservation for a dinner.

We mostly dined at Docksider – the food is pretty much the same at each restaurant, but you don’t have to wait and can taste a bit of everything. The meals selection at the buffet is not very wide, but of good taste and quality. We were somewhat surprised that the British-dwelled resort does not serve porridge to kids for breakfast. Also pizza would be great as a snack at Coco’s.

The staff looks a bit serious in the beginning, but eventually everybody is helpful and friendly. I particularly enjoyed perfect-quality service at Water-sports booth and Dive shop.

It’s a little bit unusual to state your room number and sign bills here and there at the all-inclusive resort, but you get used to it and in the end it doesn’t bother you at all. It is still better than carrying a credit card for kayak rental at some other resorts. However I cannot help thinking that the service could be even better if the staff didn’t struggle with all those receipts and printouts at the bars and restaurants.

We were very impressed and pleasantly surprised by the quality of St James Club. Our room was large, well maintained and quiet, with views over the manicured gardens and beautiful bay. The restaurants offer daily changing menus. Breakfast variety is perfect, other meals are not much better than a military mess, perhaps because of the high amount of diners. The quality of cocktails and drinks generally is high. Resort staff were generally very friendly and helpful, the people on the customer service desk were wonderful. Taxis and shuttle buses are inexpensive and can take you to visit other areas of the island. A few people have complained about the seaweed, an awesome sight to behold on the Atlantic Ocean side of the resort - clearly seaweed production is a natural occurance. The grounds men do their best to keep the beach clear and the seaweed in no way negatively affected our holiday.

My wife and I found the perfect late winter getaway at St. James Club. It's only 25 minutes from the airport and great time. We will go back. Initially we were hesitant to do an all inclusive for fear of crowds and poor food, but this was not the case at St. James.

Firstly the resort is beautiful! You get best of both worlds with a bay side with calm waters, then you have the ocean side with wind and waves! Two totally different beaches. There were plenty of beach chairs so no getting up early to stake a beach chair claim. There were plenty of sailboats, stand up paddle boards and kayaks and more. Just walk up and take one out. Too easy!!!

The weather was perfect. Don't let the on line forecasts fool you. They make it look like rain every day. Well… it did rain every day , a few times, and sometimes hard, but never lasted more than 10 minutes. It was a welcome refreshing rain!

The staff was excellent. They were very accommodating. The staff checked in with us numerous times to make sure everything was going well, which it was. We were upgraded to a villa at no cost. It was great being on the beach and having all that room. We checked out the original suites as well and they were clean and airy.

There are numerous bars and restaurants throughout the resort, enough that there was never a wait. The buffets were good, but the upgraded restaurant was excellent (Sorry can't remember the name, it was inland up on the hill by villas). Well worth the $35 per person charge. Really good food.

We met tons of fun people and made friends with people of all ages, from all over the globe every night! After resort bars closed we hung out around pool area for hours. We were very impressed with the class of people at this resort. Everyone was respectful. This place draws a great crowd.

Shirley Heights is an old British Naval watch point that has been converted to a Bar/ BBQ Restaurant/ Concert Venue that is aboun 20 minutes away. They have one hell of a Party on Sunday night. The place has some kind of energy. We met a number of friendly locals, vacationers and deck hands from Falmouth Bay where there were about a hundred huge yachts tied up. The band was excellent. We didn't make the sunset party which I heard was great too, It's only 20 minutes away and we had a very memorable and crazy time there.

All in all we had a great vacation and at a great rate. We got more than we paid for. I miss the place and the friends we made. Hope to get there next year!!!

Room Tip: Take a good look at the resort map and e-mail the resort with questions. We had a fellow by the nam...

we are just back from st james club antiqua, we had a great time.
The resort is nice, beaches ok but the water on mamorabay is not clear. The other beach is windy, nicer water but a lot of seaweed. The rooms are big and comfortable, with flatscreen tv and a lot of channel choices. There was a bit stress to order your dinner table for the evening, if you came too late or forgot it was fully booked.
There is no ATM bank in the hotel or nearby, take cash with you because the taxi cabs do not take creditcard. There were a lot of people putting their towels on sunbeds in the morning, beware of that.
The food was reasonable and the service was fine. people were nice. no shops arround the resort. there is free wifi in the lobby. the weather was fine some clouds and some rain, but that did not matter. Remember you have to pay holidaytax money on the airport before leaving.
