My fiancé and I spent 2 nights in this wonderful hotel. We appreciated E-VE-RY-THING. The room was lovely. The owners are warmly and at their guests' disposal. They're caring and thoughtful. The wife is adorable and so is her husband. We enjoyed the atmosphere, the meals and the decoration. Very refined with a touch of nostalgia. We took a superior double bed room (with a canopy bed - "lit baldaquin" in French) and we slept just fine. We are glad we found this true wonder in the heart of the countryside. This is definitely a must-stay hotel!
We warmly recommend it!

We spent a wonderful 3 nights here for a skiing trip.It was the second year running we've stayed in this hotel. It is only a short drive to super besse but the hotel qualities are a world apart. This hotel is charmingly renovated, has delicious food and a lovely family atmosphere. The multilingual owners are hospitable and kind. The bed is incredibly comfortable especially after a hard day skiing. The rooms are very stylishly decorated with a lovely shabby-chic look. There were lots of families with young children staying and it was quiet after dinner.

Overall we loved our experience and will definitely stay again.

pictures speak for themselves about a ''budget'' room at 100 euros per night.-room nr 16a room in which the furniture looks poor and untidy, the blanket has become gray in the white, the curtains were dirty patches, the paint on the ceiling was scorched, the pictures say everything ... avoids the hotel, definitely else you get more value for money

Naturally everyone is entitled to have an opinion and write a comment on the internet. On the other hand, some seize the opportunity to harm. In this case hard working people having the courage to maintain a hotel open in the countryside in France. We find the same comment made by the reviewer on other sites, so we wonder, if someone decides to do that, if it is about us or perhaps it is a personal thing or frustration? We run a hotel in the countryside of Auvergne. We renovated an old hotel and kept the original style alive. We offer standard and superior rooms, all renovated in the original style of this former "Relais de Poste" from 1895. Do take a look on our website for pictures and video or read other comments on the internet. All except a few - called economy of hiker rooms - have new private bathrooms. The other rooms are much demanded by hikers, since our village is a cross point of big hiker trails. Naturally they are our cheapest rooms in terms of price. The furniture mentioned in the comment has been painted in a style that gives an older look to it. If not understood, one might think they are really old. Here a reviewer has searched to find anything in the room and around in detail in order to criticize us. No pictures of the other furniture and new confortable bed that happens to be there in the same room. The price mentioned in this comment is actually 91 euros with a one-day-stay supplement (9 euros) only on Saturdays in wintersport high season for a family economy room for hikers and is the rate for 4 to 5 people, say 20 euros per person. Here is our reaction to his first comment placed earlier this week on Google.. Just for the reader to know: the reviewer - pointing at us at the reception, accused all French people to be xenophobic. We are not even French ourselves, but Dutch. Here follows reviewer's comment on Google and our reply to it:

Thank you for your comment written in almost perfect English. Almost every room in this accommodation has a well equipped private bathroom. It was obviously not your choice to book a room in one of our regular categories that all have private bathrooms. We do indeed have a few economy rooms that share two toilets and two bathrooms on the floor. What you do not know, is that our small village lies in the middle of two Grandes Randonnées of France. Since we run the only hotel in the area, we keep for these hikers a few low budget rooms. They are very much demanded by them, since they need accommodation for each stage of their hiker trail. These rooms and facilities are well kept and clean as well as the regular rooms. Our furniture is especially bought in line with the atmosphere of our hotel that brings back the times of 1920. You have willingly chosen the cheapest room in our hotel. On your reservation it clearly shows that the room has no private bathroom. So you were quite aware of it. Thank you for understanding that, where so many hotels in the countryside are closed and will never open again, we did have the courage doing so and work 7 days a week from morning to evening to keep a hotel open, meeting all mandatory standards. We spend our love and live in it, mostly much appreciated by so many guests that motivate us to continue....(read more on Google)

This is an old building adorned with brocante details, making you feel like you took a 200 year dive in time. Our room was beautiful white, with two large double beds, and old details. At the same time, the bathroom was large and modern. The hosts are very friendly and hospitable. You can also have diner here, which serves a good 'tourist menu' for a decent price, and with a good wine selection. Little choice of menu though (only choice of the main course, pasta or a local dish). Located in a quaint little town, on the main road. Reasonably priced.

The hotel is fine, albeit a bit quirky. Rooms were comfortable and clean, but not sound-proof, which can be quite a disturbance. WiFi service was good. We stayed on half-board basis and found the restaurant mediocre and over-priced. The hosts were friendly, but unfortunately not as accommodating towards our requests as we would have expected.
