We stayed here about twenty years ago and liked it so much that we came back twice. It is a former convent with big rooms that open onto a courtyard. The last time we came when I opened the windows in the morning two cats jumped in! Sadly, the cats are not here, but, more importantly, it is still comfortable and the breakfast is still excellent. Our satnav had problems finding it but only because one of the roads was blocked off. Montreuil-Bellay is a small town, almost a village, with an excellent baker and a useful small supermarket, and a small hotel - basically a pub - whose "patron" insisted on producing some coq au vin for us even though the restaurant was shut because we arrived late.
