My husband and I stayed here for a night last Saturday and stayed in room 10 which was fabulous. A large room and sumptuous en suite with jacuzzi bath. Staff very attentive, Covid systems brilliant and food to die for. Only negative...didn't have long enough !! We will be back.

Perfect evening with delicious food cooked to perfection and amazing deserts with an extra Birthday chocolate treat - a great team that looked after us and felt very safe with covid measures in place. Thank you for making a Birthday celebration a special one

We had three rooms for three nights and were all pleased with the standard of decor , comfort and service.
this is a restaurant with rooms and does not have full hotel facilities - no real lounge .
Good breakfast , usual range of choice.
Service was good .
Parking on street or nearby ( cheap) pay and display is easier that trying to use the small hotel car park. .
Also ate here twice and very pleased with the food
Good value

We stayed here for a couple of nights dinner, bed and breakfast on a leisure trip.
We chose a standard room which was indeed fairly "cosy" as expected but nevertheless perfectly clean, comfortable and acceptable. Despite the high street location, our room faced on to the rear courtyard which helped keep noise down with the window open. Keep in mind however that the building is ancient which is characterful and charming but does inevitably mean a few creaks and bumps as other guests walk around.
Food was good quality and well presented, commensurate with the level of awards received. I appreciated the little touches like freshly prepared grapefruit at breakfast and proper sausages (in contrast to the oh-so common catering rubbish). Meat and fish at dinner were excellent. There is a good selection of wines, of which we tried a couple, both very acceptable for the price.
Above all, I felt a reassuring sense of hospitality during our visit. Little details can make so much impact. For example as we were going out one day we requested some more tea bags and milk for the room. Rather than just handing them over, they were taken to our room while we were away, nicely arranged, cups washed. The hotel was taking sensible precautions during the time of coronavirus, with a one-way system in operation, staff wearing masks and plentiful hand sanitiser.
Very few negatives here. Car parking in the courtyard one-site is limited and seems to involve a fair bit of shuffling around! There is an adjacent car park but that usually incurs a fee. Bathroom toiletries provided were decent quality however we would have rather liked to see a small bar of good old-fashioned soap included.
I think that we will return!
