Very friendly, rooms are very big and comfortable, food is differentiated which is nice for a week of stay, far from touristic Zanzibar, close to the restaurant The Rock which is amazing and staff is really friendly.

Room Tip: We stayed in a room in the garden, with private pool and we advise this room as it is very private, big and comfortable.

We are a family of 4 with 2 young children (5 and 1) and spent 9 days at KonoKono.
We had a lovely and relaxing holiday in a great resort.
There are a couple of things to be aware of, but the positives largely outweighed the negatives.

I'll start with the positive because it really deserves your attention:

Absolutely gorgeous small resort (only 25/30 villas, you feel like you own the place). It's picture perfect and the simple design of the resort is so well suited to the surroundings that the scenery is just to die for.
The rooms are great. The individual pools are a bit (very) small but it's such a small private resort that you're either at the never-busy main pool or the great beach). There are no baths, so not ideal with kids, but aside from this it's all thumbs up.
The staff is extremely nice and friendly; and that is an understatement! A massive part of the reason why we had such a relaxing and a great holiday.
And for people that worry about these things:it's also kept always very clean,

Only two things you have to know:
The food is average and the service is poor. Expect waiting times for your orders to be sometimes very long for no apparent reasons (if you want to lunch at the beach bar, expect an hour between your order and the food arriving).
The laundry service is best being avoided all together unless you have bulletproof clothes and like wrinkly garments...
And triple check your bookings (taxis in particular) have been booked. When we landed we had an email asking us to resend our landing time because they lost all our previous correspondence (sic)...

Once you are aware of this (for great food, do lunch at the Rock nearby!), that you are happy to let this go and adopt a similar holiday laid-back approach as everyone else (including staff), then enjoy!

In short, if you are in the hotel business, or used to perfectly-run 5* hotels, then move along because you'd have a very stressful holiday.
However, if you are happy to accept that this is run a bit as a B&B, where the staff is as friendly and nice but it often feels as it is run by amateurs, then the resort is a little paradise that will make your instagram followers pretty jealous!

Dear Eduard,
thank you very much for the review that will serve us as always to improve our service.
I'm sorry that not everything went 100%. However we make great efforts to improve our staff too.

We hope that when you come back to Zanzibar you can come to Konokono and we would be happy to welcome you.
regards,
maurizio

This small resort is the perfect location for couples who are looking for a relaxing stay. All villas are generously large and feature a private plunge pool in each of them. Food is very good and with plenty of selection which varies from day to day. The staff is very kind and attentive. Special thanks to Ally , who went out of his way to assist us in everything we needed throughout our stay. Overall, we loved the place and we cannot wait to go back!

The attention to details by Mauricio the GM and put into place by the very capable and attentive staff are what is so special about the Konokono - that and the powder white sand, great spacious hotel rooms and sunsets that are to die for.
The team we got to befriend - Ally - our gracious and informative host, Dixon, Salam Juma and Ines in the restaurant were always there for every request and all with wonderful smiles.
The bar did wonderful drinks, Rebecca at reception - all of these wonderful staff and the Masaai Askaris were what made the Konokono special.
Whilst the resort is remote, the facilities and staff make it a haven.

Room Tip: Rooms closer to the main building reception would be nice for closer access to the pool and dining areas.

It's the perfect place to rest, enjoy the beach and pool. We were at KonoKono for 4 days after a week safari in the mainland, and arriving at the resort was the best ending to out trip.
The staff is always on top of everything, the food is great, the overall ambience is perfect.
