Dropped in for dinner on the spur of the moment and that was the best decision I made all week. Had the salmon from the specials board which was outstanding. Grilled with maple syrup and whole grain mustard it was moist full of flavour and had the most wonderful crispy skin. Crushed baby potatoes and Brussels sprout slaw gave it a festive twist. Mouth watering. We followed this with the Chocolate and Tonka bean tart with After Eight sorbet. What is a Tonka bean I hear you say? Me too. It gave the chocolate a delicious tart cherry like flavour and the minty sorbet was a fantastic counter point. All in all a great end to the week. Thank you Village Inn.

Party of 9 people. 3 starters ordered, only 2 arrive. On inquiring what happened to the 3rd one - answer "chef says it's finished"! Being told earlier would have helped.
Food - so, so. Game stew was supposed to be with potatoes/vegetables. Plate was lots of "some kind" of meat with a very watery gravy and a roll!!??. Again, on inquiring was told "potatoes/veg's are supposed to be in the stew" - alas there were none. Puddings -again one had run out, and ordered coffee was forgotten.
Bill included the missing starter; ouch.
Manageress was very apologising, problem with "first day staff", a small financial adjustment was made. However, overall very disappointing.
Should point out, on previous occasions, very happy with service and food standards. Hopefully, this was a "one off"

We were in Pitlessie for my sons wedding and stayed two nights at the Inn. The hospitality from Leigh was fabulous. The rooms were adorable and the breakfasts were delicious. On Sunday night we had a goodbye dinner with about 15 of us. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the service was stellar. Taking great memories back to the States. Thanks again Leigh !!

A spur of the moment lunchtime visit to this country Pub / Restaurant. Plenty of parking, clean tidy entrance to the bar and restaurant where we were made very welcome by the staff. We had a choice of table as they service was quiet. I was impressed with the menu which was varied and catered for vegetarians and gluten free customers. The food was excellent and served with a smile. The barman was most welcoming and had no problem making time for us with friendly chat and attention to social niceties.
This was our first visit to the Village Inn, it will certainly not be our last.

Spent 3 nights here, it's centrally located and an ideal base from which to explore this lovely part of Scotland with its' quaint fishing villages not to mention St Andrews and Dundee.
Our room, the Phunky Pheasant, was very comfortable and had been refurbished to a high standard with a keen eye to interior design. The bathroom is a joy, with plenty of room and smart fittings. The addition of a coffee machine is a nice touch as is the thoughtful scottish tablet!
The Inn offers an eclectic menu and we particularly enjoyed the venison sausages. Breakfasts are hearty with quality ingredients and the omelette Arnold. Bennett will keep you going all day!
The staff are welcoming and friendly as are the owners, who have obviously put a lot of effort into this establishment.
Have no hesitation in recommending - go and enjoy!
