Lovely and clean and a warm reception on arrival ( not just the weather! )
RECEPTION - staff lovely, knowledgeable, friendly, helpful. speedy check in and porter takes you to your room. area is clean and spacious and well air conditioned.
ROOMS - standard rooms, very clean and cleaned daily including towels .not a lot of room we has 3 in a superior double/twin , it had 3 beds and you did keep banging your legs as you moved around but you get used to it. we had a quiet room overlooking trees and grass really peaceful waking up to birds singing it was ideal. the sun moved off the balcony at teatime which cooled the room so good again. no bath only a shower and the cubicles are small ( im a size 10 and I banged my elbows on the sides as I showered ) that would be my only downside the cubicles need to be a tad bigger. The room was fine for the amount of time you spend in it.
POOLS- clean and spacious, ideal for families and couples. a nice pool with small slides and a squirting clown! shallow and lots of fun for the younger ones ( up to 12 years old on slides ) never seemed crowded although hotel was full.
2 larger pools , shallow end about 1.5m, large pools so lots of rooms. cleaned to perfection and not slippery around sides which was a bonus. staff collected glasses regularly and no glass allowed around pool all plastic that was fab. one pool shut at 6pm daily ( alternate pool ) for cleaning but the other stayed open until 8pm. childrens pool with slides closed at 6pm ( water turned off slides and clown )
reserving beds was a big problem as people put towels on as they left the bar at night!!! although lots of beds available ( and reception did say if you couldn't find a bed just ask and they would sort you one ) you had people reserving beds some taking 4 parasols for 6 beds!! and not using them until late afternoon which is very unfair. Quite a lot of towel reserved beds were not used until after lunch. We were lucky as we were at the pool for 8am each morning (but did eventually have to get up at 6am to reserve a bed and get a parasol.) Lots of people in the pools but once again never appeared too full so fun had by all.
ENTERTAINMENT- left alone which was lovely in fact only saw pool volleyball in an afternoon otherwise don't think I ever saw entertainment staff during the day so nice to not get pestered. They had a shaded kids club cant comment on this as I go on holiday as a family not to leave my child in a kids club I like quality family time. Night time they had a few arranged nights . dancing , magician, clown, singers and the kids disco which started a little late some nights 10pm?? all good entertainment low key .
BAR AREA- clean, friendly, liked the two drink per person rule never saw anyone abuse the drink and hence this resort has a lovely family feel no drunken yobs. Self service cocktails and soft drinks at the bar. The seating areas were a little dark around the bar and not a lot of seating for the size of the hotel although you could yous the outside restaurant area at night.
RESTAURANT- Yes no smoking in most areas really liked this. drinks all self service and a bit chaotic around the machines and hot drinks ( children were getting hot drinks and carrying them back to their tables ) Lots of tables but not a lot of space between, Clean and tidy and staff worked hard. Food lovely, lots of choice all freshly cooked and the quality of the meat was more 5 star ( the beef wellington was pure steak in it ) lunch had an outside area where you could get kebabs and hot dogs and chips aswell as the restaurant. Breakfast lots of cake! loads of choice from continental to bacon and the choice of yoghurts wow and so tasty .The food quality was exceptional and if you was served it in a restaurant you would be paying a lot for that quality.
ICECREAMS- served twice a day at selected times , choice of flavours and 1 per person , good quality.
ONSITE SHOP- friendly staff really helpful . prices fair and lots of selection open until late at night.
OUTSIDE HOTEL- a short walk to the lovely beach, but a busy road to cross and a steep hill back I wouldn't have liked to have been pushing a pram. Drivers a bit crazy here and you have to dodge the cars even on the so called crossing they drive on when green man shows.
1.20e for the bus to and 8e taxi a beautiful town and visit the old town oh my the harbour, restaurants , views , and feel the mood its electric. Early evening it gets really busy on the narrow streets and shops and the sunset attracts lots of tourists.
2.10e takes you on the bus to planatas a strip of shops , restaurants and bars
TO SUM THIS UP- sorry for the long review but this resort is lovely and a fantastic place for a family holiday , the towel problem is one that I don't think any hotel will ever sort unless you go 5 star ( and I have been to a few of them that have the same problem ) there was one particular nationality that were quite rude to others and staff and they seemed to try to takeover certain areas and didn't care if you was on your sunbed they would put their family nearly on top of you and force you to move I shall not name the nationality but think it may be as eygpt is no longer their destination they are moving their preferences to Greece!! hope not!!
WELL DONE STAFF AND MANAGEMENT OF SIRIOS VILLAGE YOU HAVE A BEAUTIFUL FAMILY FRIENDLY HOTEL KEEP UP YOUR HIGH STANDARDS OF SERVICE.
would I go again ???? definately

Room Tip: upper floors to avoid noise and ones away from the pools are a little paradise

Dear nansue12345

Thank you for the time you took to write such an extensive review regarding your holidays in our hotel. We are truly delighted to read your review and how our hard work has paid off offering the majority of our guests great holidays. Regarding your remarks, the few small showers left will be replaced this winter so that all rooms will be equipped with spacious ones. Our staff always gives priority to conserving a calm atmosphere around the pool and all the areas of the hotel in any discreet way they can. Due to these efforts incidents with drunken guests have been limited to almost zero. All restaurant areas are now non smoking and this is due to our guests’ remarks from their reviews and on the spot requests. Finally to be able to decongestion the drinks service area next season it will be relocated, also due to our guests’ notes. We never stop changing and improving our services and facilities, we keep on evolving because we love to see happy guests. We definitely expect to see you again soon,

Best regards from our Management team.

We have just returned from a family holiday at this lovely hotel. Our group of 11 ranged from 3years to 73 years so quite a challenge. Everything was fabulous and we all had a great time. The food was plentiful and really delicious, we had some very picky eaters with us but they always found something they enjoyed. The rooms were light and airy and maid service was every day. There are 4 pools and they are cleaned and maintained every day and are great fun for all ages. Every single member of staff we came into contact with was friendly and polite and they were all especially nice to our 3 year old. The amazing Zafiris even managed to find us tables together for our evening meal when the restaurant was particularly busy. Thank you everyone at Sirios for making our holiday special. I would highly recommend this lovely hotel and bungalows.

We have just returned from a 1week family holiday there was 11 of us, children ranging from 3 to 14, and this place was fab! I had read some reviews before I went and although I go open minded some of the things written I was a little concerned about but no need at all!

Food - fantastic
Facilities - great
Location - perfect
Staff- first class

From the minute we arrived and were greeted by Sophia, every meal time the restaurant manager was on hand and very friendly, in fact every member of staff was amazing and worked very hard to make our stay perfect !

Pools great, there is a pool for everyone , there are 2 tiny little issues but I can't see how these can change and in our 10 years of AI we have had the same problems the bliddy towel Devils ! Those who insist on putting towels down at midnight grrrrr we got up at 7/8 am (on a rota basis with our party) in order to get beds and parasols which was frustrating as the usual "put towels down at midnight and don't go to the beds until 1pm" so these beds could of been used by others, not sure how the hotel can resolve this issue though!

The A.I drinks was also a little bit of a problem now and then (but I do understand why the hotel stick to there rules as some people are very greedy) my mam and I went to get some drinks for our party and were only allowed 2 drinks each , the larger had a head on which deserved a flake so when that went down it was actually a half of half so we were back and forward but again I do understand why as some people are just greedy and to be fair it wasn't a huge problem for us!

Over all we loved it and I WOULD recommend this place to anyone with kids !!!

Thanks Sirios village for an amazing holiday

My husband, two daughters (aged 21 and 17) and myself have recently returned from a 10 night stay at the sirios village. After a short delay with our flight we arrived at 5pm, the transfer from Chania airport was approximately 30 minutes by coach. Initially we were disappointed as the hotel only had a family room available despite us booking two superior doubles through Thomson. We stayed in the family apartment for two nights and on the third day moved to two double rooms, one in the main building and one in the bungalows. Despite being very disappointed at first, the hotel rectified the problem as soon as they could. (We are unsure whether this was Thomsons problem or the hotels, but when we moved to the rooms we had booked we were very happy.) The TUI rep Laura was extremely helpful during our whole stay.
The whole hotel was spotlessly clean and there was daily maid service. Both of our rooms were also very clean and well maintained by the cleaners who worked very hard. My daughters room was very modern and looked recently refurbished, our room in the main building overlooked the pool and we had no problems with noise at all.
Overall the food was good with plenty of choice for all three meals and all nationalities. Towards the end of our stay the restaurant seemed to be busier and although the staff worked very hard to replenish the food quickly, on a couple of occasions there was very little food left. The staff were quick clearing and resetting the tables, so there is never a long wait even when the restaurant is busy. If you prefer English tea you may want to take some tea bags as most of the tea bags were flavoured.
All three pools were brilliant and clean. Shaded area over the baby pool is an excellent idea and the slides were good for children. Although people were up quite early to reserve sunbeds we never had a problem. There are plenty of parasols and shade provided by trees.
The onsite mini market had everything you might need and was reasonably priced. The ladies in the shop were very friendly and helpful.
There is some evening entertainment which in our opinion started a little early. We wanted to watch the Cretan dancing but as it started at 7.30pm we were eating our evening meal.
The beach was only a ten minute walk out the back of the hotel and is very nice. We went to Chania by taxi 3 times which costs around €10 Euros each way. It is lovely there, well worth a visit. The reception staff are happy to order the taxi for you.
Overall we had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend this hotel. We are hoping to return in the future.

Need to start by saying this is a review of Sirios Village, not a review of of standards of behaviour from different nationalities which some like to give. All I will say is some don't cover themselves in glory.

Now for the review. Really nice place that would be much closer to excellent if they made a few tweaks or additions. Biggest minus is the lack of entertainment in the day and evening. There are shows every other night and the fact there is something on covers the low quality of it but something is better than nothing. That said, the clown show was really good and the music show was ok. Just sang too many depressing songs.

We booked through Thomson and booked a Superior Double with pool or garden view. This is meant to come with a bath too. The room allocated was in the main building and included a pool view but just a shower. The room was also very small with the 3rd bed for our 13 year old a converted chair. Following a dash to enjoy the sun we raised this with the rep who spoke to reception. There was an alternative available which had a bath and a proper 3rd bed, but a view of waste ground. The room outweighed the view so we swapped. The help from reception was top class and was throughout our stay so well done there. Room was a decent size, air con great, WiFi great but TV pants (but we don't come to watch TV). Rooms serviced everyday which is good too.

There is plenty of food to choose from so everyone should find something they like. Themed nights through the week and the grill bar in the day is really popular and pretty good. Drinks are not branded and ok. Branded stuff is available but you have to pay for it. Bar staff are really pleasant too and you don't wait very long to get served. Beware, bar closes bang on 11pm and that's it. No more drinks available.

We enjoyed our stay. With a little focus in a few areas this could be excellent but as it is is a good place to holiday. The area doesn't have much going off but Chania is only a short ride away.

Dear SWFCLee

Thank you for writing your review on Trip Advisor. We are happy to know that you enjoyed your holidays in our hotel. Nothing is perfect and everything can be improved, we always take under consideration your notes and try to fill in the gaps accordingly. The bar doesn’t close at 23:00, the all-inclusive services end at that time, bar remains open for our guests, offering drinks on charge. The surrounding area of the hotel and the village of Kato Daratso is a peaceful place where you will find everything you need during your vacations. If you need something extra the best places to visit are Chania and Platanias which are a few minutes bus ride from our hotel. We really hope to see you again in the future,

Best regards from our Management team.
