Description: In our Micro-Brewery we brew beer according to the German law of purity from 1516. That means our beer is 100 % natural and fresh, without any types of preservatives and additives. The ingredients are only water, malted barley, hop and yeast. We hope to please you with our gastronomy inspired by a selected mix of the delicious german and canarian traditional cooking. We have a room for the children, a big terrace, parking. Everyday open, from 1.00 pm

We stayed in Puerto De La Cruz, and had already searched online for Craft Beer. The Tacoa is the only Micro Brewery listed, so tracked it down. Easy Bus ride on the 101 and 2 minute walk down the slope from the stop. We were greeted by the owner and given a run down of the beers, all which are brewed on site. Alternatively you can sample all of them. There is a lovely terrace, unfortunately it was raining on our visit, so couldn't see much. If you have had enough of the gassy lager served everywhere, I would thoroughly recommend Tacoa for a few beers, they also have a lovely food menu.

I’m not sure you’d find this place, unless you knew about it. My father lives locally and took us along the first time and we try and make it back every we visit the island. A cracking selection of brews, which you can take away. The Bock, or cerveza Negra is a favourite of mine.

Food wise, it has German roots and this is reflected in the grub. A limited menu but all good. Steak, steak tips, fillets of pork, roast leg of pork, sausages. Lots of sausages. They might not do a lot, but they make sure it is done well.

You can buy the beer to take away, and they even have a small kids play room.

Coming to the north of the island? You’d be nuts to pass this place. Although I’d be grateful if you do give it a miss, actually, I don’t want it too busy. I might not get a table next time....

On this pleasant spring sunny day a stop was made at this commodious craft brewery emporium. The bus [No. 12] trip from La Laguna bus station, past the north airport, was relatively short, although would have been somewhat longer from Santa Cruz itself.

The two main wood panelled brewery vessels were standing proudly visible in a red tiled bunded area at the side of the commodious well laid out main room with the bar at the back. The beer shop was located in another corner of the smartly presented facility, where beers of the Tacoa range, souvenirs and other brewing supplies could be purchased.

An unhurried lunch was taken on the sunny terrace, which had extensive views along the north coast of the island. The creamy leek soup was selected as a starter, followed by the well-presented local caballas ahumadas [smoked mackerel] dish. These dishes were pleasantly washed down with a number of well-kept beers, selected from the eight of the Tacoa range on offer that day.

Service was polite, pleasant and timely but unhurried, while you relaxed taking in the view from the terrace. An excellent all around beer emporium

Having been to 100s of micros i was all excited to try a lava water beer .

The board menu did not have prices or volumes !!! PEASENTS
I ordered the IPA which was then not available , only to be offered the PA at a non menu price of the IPA . Wise up !
The till menu did not match the beer menu . A disgrace to an international destination .

I asked for my money back ( better spent in London or LA ) and left

A 2 1/2 hour bus journey in the Tenerife heat, are we mad? My wife asked, as we approached El Sauzal.
The short answer is no. It was worth every second of the hot sweaty journey.
We stepped inside the Tacoa Restaurant and Cerveceria and it was like entering a craft beer oasis in a desert of mass produced, bland gassy lager hell.
Here Teresa and Joachim brew and sell an array of beer styles and strengths to compete with most UK microbreweries.
The beers range from Porter and Bock styles, through Ruby and Amber, to IPA and APA. Some one off brews as well utilising local honey and other infusions.
We tried 4 different brews between us, all of which were 1st class, but we both agreed that the IPA was outstanding.
Bottles of most of the beers are available to take away.
Tacoa has a full restaurant menu, from which we sampled the tapas, this was also excellent.
So if you're on Tenerife and fancy an excellent craft beer to accompany some tasty food then Tacoa really is worth a visit.
It's situated on the 101 bus route from Santa Cruz to Puerto de la Cruz in El Sauzal.
