“Experience of a Lifetime”

Cathers Wilderness Adventures
Reviewed 20 February 2018

My husband,16yr old son and myself just spent 3 days with the Cather family. We had the most amazing experience on our dog- sledding adventure. Ned, Jennine and Ma were wonderful hosts making us feel extremely welcome. We sledded throughout the day stopping for campfire lunches and then at night all spent time together over dinner swapping our stories. I can't say enough about the beautiful huskies. They are working dogs that just want to run and run and run. They all are named and have there own kennels and the family know each and every one just by a glance. Our log cabins were fantastic with log fires to keep us warm. Nothing was a problem for the Cather family and their knowledge outstanding. If you adventure to the Yukon you will see the most amazing scenery including night skies with depth you can't imagine. We thoroughly loved our time with the Cather family and can't wait to visit again. We have come away from this adventure with knowledge and friendship and most importantly an experience of a lifetime.

Jeninne and Ned were amazing hosts. I love the fact that it is a family run. This means more personalized attention and knowing that they genuinely care for their customer and the dogs! They are so knowledgeable about the surrounding location and anything you may be pondering about the North. True Yukoners that will welcome you into their back yard and treat you to an amazing experience.

My partner and I were visiting Whitehorse for a week and this dogsledding trip was the highlight of our stay! We did many other fun winter activities but sledding with the dogs was easy and the scenery is so beautiful! Jeninne is a great knowledgeable guide and we loved spending time with her around the campfire when we stopped for smokies and hot apple cider. We went on the picnic day tour and I would suggest it to anyone. We hope we can go back again!

We booked for a six day canoe trip to Carmacks, and had the great good luck to do so with the Cathers family. Jeninne masterminded our trip, and couldn't have been more engaged and ready to share her deep knowledge of the river and the Yukon more generally. The logistics were faultless, and we enjoyed a very happy time away from it all. If only it could have been longer!

I visited the Cathers' with a friend of mine to do a hiking and canoeing trip. The family is very kind and knowledgeable - they tailored our trip to the activities we wanted to do, and were excellent guides. They also tailored the food (we are vegetarians) and it was delicious. The dogs were excellent companions on our hikes and at meal times. There were also 3 horses. All in all - a wonderful experience.
