Knowing very little about Montreal, we selected this hotel for our first visit therein September, 2017, for its location and price based on our research through Trip Advisor and a friend familiar with the city. We were a bit concerned about choosing a non-name brand hotel in the central city at the price level we were paying. Based on our stays in other large cities, such as New York and Boston, we were used to paying much more for decent accommodations, however, our experience at this property far exceeded our expectations. From the moment we pulled up to the lobby through the moment we drove away after checking out, the staff was among the most friendly, informative and attentive we have ever encountered. We were upgraded to a suite without even asking. The room was very clean and comfortable. A fairly short walk to either the Victoria Station and McGill metro stations gave us access to everywhere we wanted to go. There were excellent restaurants nearby as well as places to shop, although we're not shoppers for more than necessities. The rooftop indoor pool and surrounding terrace were an added bonus. Based on the value received for what we paid, this hotel is a bargain and we will definitely book this hotel again when we visit Montreal.

My husband and I had a very nice stay at the Le Square Phillips Hotel in December. It is in a great location near all the good department stores and there were nice restaurants nearby to have dinner after a day shopping and visiting the sights of the city. The breakfast was adequate and the staff was friendly, we never had any problem finding a table and it was quite pleasant in the dining room. The room was huge and had a full kitchen which we did use one night. All in all, a perfect place to stay, very quiet and convenient to everything. We would definitely stay here again if we traveled back to Montreal.

Room tip: We were on the fifth floor and it was very quiet.

We loved our stay here. Perfect location, friendly staff, nice breakfast, clean, etc. The problem was our room temperature. Room 510 is a large king suite which I'm sure would normally be very desirable but was cold during our visit. We turned up the heat but it never got warm enough. This room has 2 exposed walls and very high ceilings so keeping it heated was not working.
The continental breakfast was plentiful but be sure to get there before 9am...it can get quite busy.

Room tip: Avoid room 510 during the winter (see review)

Junior Suite room with queen bed, microwave, teapot, coffee maker, fridge, stove, toaster and dishwasher in the kitchen area. Very big living room with TV. Great housekeeping. Good area in downtown of Montréal. Close to shopping center, restaurants, information and tours center.

Our loft suite was large enough to accommodate us five. We stayed over New Years Eve for 3 nights. Check in was smooth even though we were quite late. The only issue we had the first night was a really cold room. The temperature outside was -37. So the high ceilings huge room and large overhead plus side windows wouldn’t let the room temperature go above 18. The next night I called the reception and someone from management arrived promptly. He provided us with a heater and we had no complaints afterwards. There was an inconvenient fire alarm incident overnight. But stairs were enough for guests in a 9 floor building and safe.
The lobby is small and cold. But valet service is excellent especially for a cold snowy stay. We never had to wait at their desk and car was always warm. And we went in and out multiple times through the day.
Breakfast is very basic. Enough to start the day so you can find crepe restaurant around the corner. Location is close to TIM Hortons open 24 hours,Burger King and second cup.
And of course we were downtown so everywhere was 5 min drive only. Couldn’t walk much in -20C.
There was fully equipped kitchen two big queen size beds and a double sofa bed for price of 250 per night. Not bad for downtown Montreal. Not a five star hotel but met expectations
