My wife and I regularly visit Montreal, and had the opportunity to stay at the Castel Durocher on our most recent three-night trip. Our apartment at Castel Durocher (on Aylmer) was lovely, and Vincent and Sandrine's hospitality was warm and friendly. We look fwd to visiting them again on our next visit.

This B&B came highly recommended from a friend and after checking on trip advisor, it was clear that others agreed! My husband, one-year-old daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed a week vacation here in July. The accommodations met our needs in every way.
Sandrine was such a lovely hostess (Vincent was out of town). She made up feel so welcome and took great care of us! When we arrived, the fridge was packed with delicious treats including that divine chocolate that everyone is raving about! Sandrine had a pack n'play for our use and was so kind to set out some dolls for our daughter to play with while we were there. The apartment was cleaned a couple of times throughout week and Sandrine checked in often to be sure we had everything we needed - usually dropping off some fresh bakery or fruit as well. She even lined up a trustworthy babysitter for us one evening so my husband and I were able to enjoy a night out!
As far as the location - it was perfect! We felt extremely safe and were able to navigate the city very well by both foot and using the nearby metro stops. There were so many cute festivals happening in the area - so much to see and do! Also, there is no need to rent a car as even the transition to and from the airport is totally accessible and easy via public transit.
We hope to return and bring our extended family in the future - especially since the B&B will be able to accommodate us all, as there are many additional apartments that are just as beautiful. Plus, we look forward to seeing Sandrine and her beautiful smile once again!

Room Tip: Suite Victoria is a spacious one-bedroom apartment suite with lots of character! The kitchen has it all! Window air units keep you cool!

My daughter and I stayed in the Top Suite (2 bedroom apartment) when she had an entrance interview at McGill. We rented a care that we DID NOT need in any way and had a parking spot provided in a safe fenced area. This beautiful suite is walking distance to everything. The kitchen was completely stocked including a fridge filled with milk, juice, jam, water, butter, their absolutely delicious homemade chocolate spread, fruit, deli meat, yogurt, bagels, coffee and tea. They supplied fresh muffins and croissants for our first breakfast and a fresh baguette. I can not express how much we enjoyed the chocolate spread on the fresh bread. It was divine!! Vincent brought up some shaved chocolate and chocolates for us as well. Chocolate spread with shaved chocolate on a fresh baguette....delicious!!
The suites had everything you could need-hair dryer, iron, umbrella, coffee maker, kettle and fully stocked kitchen. There was a lovely balcony off the kitchen and a second off the living room. The beds were comfortable. The ceilings are high and the suite has a homey old charm. There was lots of space and we felt right at home. There were fresh flowers all over the suite-a lovely touch. The location is a short walk to grocery stores and restaurants. Be sure to visit Lola Rosa, a vegetarian restaurant, right across the street even if you are not vegetarian. The quiche was the best I have ever had. The walk to McGill was very short. Walking to downtown (Eaton Center) was about 10 minutes and to Old Montreal was less than 30 minutes. We only used our rental to get to and from the airport and 2 other short trips. We easily walked to the House of Jazz which was so much fun and the Montreal Symphony for an amazing night of music. The location is safe and quite.
We stayed 5 nights. Our suite was cleaned half way through our stay and Vincent and Sandrine brought us fresh pastries and another jar of chocolate spread. They were friendly and pleasant and more than willing to help in any way. This was our first visit to Montreal and we appreciated they suggestions. This suite was the perfect place for us to stay. It had way more room than a hotel and was comfortable in every single was. We felt relaxed and right at home.
Should I return to Montreal, I will not look at any other place to stay. This is it, it's perfect! It is a home away from home, delightful, clean, comfortable....what more could you want?

We spent 3 nights in late April in the Victorian suite and immediately felt at home. We were welcomed by Vincent and given a tour of the apartment. Victor and Sandrine have thought of everything - coffee maker & French press for coffee, pots, pans, dishes, spices, oils, plenty of linens, pillows & storage space, a hair dryer and even a first aid kit and bath foam in the bathroom. The unit features a washer and dryer which we did not use. The apartment is very conveniently located near a couple of grocery stores so you can pick up supplies for breakfast (they supply the 1st morning - croissants, yogurt, butter, jam, coffee, milk, apple juice, coconut water, cheese, a baguette, tea & fresh fruit) and there are several restaurants nearby - other reviewers have mentioned Lola Rosa and we agree - great food, even for non-vegetarians. There are a couple of parking spots available for $10 a night - we could see the car from the apartment, which was great, and it was behind a fence down an off-the-beaten-path alley, so very safe. The neighborhood is lovely but best of all it is utterly, totally silent - we heard nothing from the bedroom in the back of the unit - no traffic, no voices, no other residents (Top Suite is directly upstairs), nothing. For the middle of the city, in a student neighborhood, this is amazing. It is a quick 6 minute walk to the McGill metro station and about 20 minutes to Old Montreal on foot.
Vincent makes his own chocolate which he provides for guests. It will spoil you for all other chocolate. We thought it was amazing - and we've been to Belgium! Definitely the place to stay if you want a home away from home that is quiet, centrally located, spotlessly clean and charming to boot.

We stayed in the Top Suite 2-bed apartment at Castel Durocher for a fortnight in March 2014, so we could be close to our son, who was living down the street during his study year at McGill University. Everything about the apartment was perfect: location, comfort and facilities. The owners were fluent bi-lingual and extremely friendly, helpful hosts. The position of the flat was brilliant: it's just a street or two from the McGill campus and a few minutes walk from Rue Sherbrooke, which is the start of Downtown proper. At the bottom of the street is McGill's music school, with public concerts practically every night during termtime. McGill's sports centre is about 15 minutes walk away and guests are allowed day passes for a modest fee.
The apartment was really warm, despite sub-zero temperatures outside and thick snow. Access to the front door is via an outside iron staircase, so those with mobility problems could find this tricky. There's another staircase inside the flat, which leads up to the living quarters. The decor is tasteful and the kitchen is well-stocked. The apartment was very quiet.
I'd thoroughly recommend the apartment, especially if there are three or four of you to share the cost.
