I love Curry House. I have come here since I was a child. Every time I come back to visit my family, I always pick up a beef roti with pepper.

This is a proper Trini/Eastern Caribbean-style roti (not a Jamaican roti with stew beef and minimal curry) with perfectly West Indian curried meats and very good roti dough. The roti has a good ratio of beef to potatoes. I admit that at times, the beef can vary...from being a bit on the tough side to being moist and soft. I don't think that the flavour has varied too much. In the past, they have used a lime peel, which made the beef even more delish, but I have not seen that in over 8 years.

The heat on the pepper roti is not for the faint of heart. At times, and this is my only gripe, the pepper is not distributed evenly. The regular roti has a good spice level. I can barely finish a roti now. Even if I finish it, I generally cannot eat for the rest of the day because it is that filling. The price for that sort of meal is a joke...under $9.00 for a beef roti...you cannot find that in many places in Canada.

Curry House is more of a take out place. Having said that, I have dined in a few times. It has the same decor from 30 years ago, so this is not a place to go for the decor. However, the background music is always great and no one will ask you to leave even if you are sitting for 1.5 hours.

Curry House now has a better selection of Caribbean drinks, including Juicy from St. Vincent, Ting, and the Grace drinks.

I agree that sometimes the service is interesting, but I personally have never had bad service there, so I cannot knock them for that.

The catering (albeit on 15 years memory) is also excellent. The veggie rice is sensational.

I love Curry House and will always come back.

This is a non vegetarian restaurant that offers very good vegetarian Caribbean options. Rotis are very nice. The Roti bread is prepared daily and is especially nice when served freshly made within the hour.

Quite a popular place for luch and dinner. Line-ups through the door.

We visited the Caribbean curry house last night. My, what an experience. I decided to bring my family there since my wife is Caribbean and would have enjoyed some home style food, my kids also appreciate Caribbean flavour. We set out from our hotel amidst some intermittent rain showers which delayed our arrival and we had to seek shelter here and there. We arrived a little damp and soggy but looking forward to some good food. It was not to be! I got to the counter (the time being 2100 on the button) and proceeded to ask about certain dishes. The server, who was quite stone-faced about it said, " you have to have it to go". So I replied, "why, you close 2130, it's only 2100." She retorted, "I know but we have clean up." I said to her, "...but it doesn't say on your website that you close the dining room at 2100 [or anywhere else even like on the door]." She replied, not caring, "I know but we have to clean up." So I tried to reason with her, I said, "what should we do? We just walked 20 minutes in the rain from our hotel, and we drove 5 hrs from Toronto to see you, to give you business, I said its 2100, how long does the food take?" She said, "10 minutes", I said, "okay, so 2110, we will eat and be done before 2130", again trying to reason with her? She was unconcerned and stared at my blankly as if, 'tell me why I care?' So I tried one last time, hoping I could inspire some basic hospitality and human kindness (remember how far we can from and it was raining outside), so I said, "what would you like us to do? Do you want us to leave?" She said, "you can take it to your hotel and eat it there", I said, "it's a 20 min. walk (in the rain) and we have no way to reheat the food?", again, she stared at me not caring a lick (as they would say in the Caribbean).

I was dumbfounded by her complete lack of care and concern or accommodation to travellers who drove 5hrs, walked 20 mins in the rain and now would have to walk 20 mins back to the hotel, bellies empty with two hungry and confused children soaking wet and no better for it. All because what? She didn't want to clean one single table potentially (and we would have been so thankful we would've cleaned it ourselves even) before 2130 when the sign and the website says its closes 2130 anyway, and it was 2100.

Amazing!

I've travelled to many parts of the world, including Trinidad and Tobago (8 times) and cast parts of the Caribbean, these people do not represent the friendliness and courteousness of the West Indies. This is the single most horrible experience I've had, at a restaurant, in all the 20 yrs I've been travelling.

Frustrated, disappointed and to be honest, downright saddened for my kids, I walked out whilst she remained stone-faced about it. You'd have thought I asked them to open late or something! I said, I'll be sure to put a review on tripadvisor, so there you have it. You can now decide for yourself if you want to give Caribbean Curry House your hard-earned dollars. Even from a strictly business perspective, in a social media infused era, what a silly decision to harm your own potential customer. How much lost business would that cost you due to bad publicity? I can only assume she will read this review and be, well, unmoved, just like she was with us.

I love this place as the food is great, has that home-cooked-just-for-you taste, and has a real vibe of T&T...I might not be Trini but I have a ton of Trini friends and they all know and love Curry House. Great food at a great price. A Montreal institution. Bravo! - Jaime Alcaraz Montreal

First time to this restaurant. Ordered rice with mutton curry, it tasted good, plated with Caribbean rice, plantain, salad and a slice of mango. The passion fruit juice was good too. We will come back for sure.
