My husband and I were looking for a hotel near the train station as a jumping off point for our trans-Canada Via Rail trip to Vancouver with another couple. Hotel LeGermaine really fit the bill. The staff was friendly and the rooms were modern and sleek, with black concrete walls and cherry-toned furniture. The platform bed was really comfortable. My husband and I had the best sleep! The bathroom was stylish — a vessel sink, a separate toilet room, and a shower enclosure that was its own little room between the bathroom and the bedroom. The shower had an enormous rain can shower head along with a hand-held shower. Wooden blinds on the glass shower wall facing the bedroom could be left open or closed for privacy. The towels were large and plentiful. A built-in ironing board was cleverly concealed in the paneling next to the enormous flat-screen TV.
Our rate included breakfast, and there was a substantial buffet of hot and cold items: scrambled eggs, sausage, oatmeal, granola, cold cereal, assorted pastries, smoked salmon, bagels, yogurt, fresh fruit, and juice. The helpful staff made us lattes and cappuccinos.
Because our train wasn’t scheduled to leave until 10:00 that night, the front desk kindly offered to let us use a room until 8 pm. As it turned out, our train didn’t leave until 9 the next morning, and Via Rail put us up in another hotel for the night. I would definitely stay here again if my travels took me to Toronto.More
