Owner description: Often compared to New York City's Soho, Queen Street is the place to go for trendy dining and nightlife, plus cutting-edge fashion, art galleries, antique shops and bookstores.

Queen Street is a major east-west artery and has a streetcar line that runs on it. If you use public transport you can connect with the subway that runs basically to the north and if you do so then ask for a free transfer. We became very familiar with it since during our five day stay in Toronto we were staying just one block away so we walked on it or took the streetcar every day. The street is lined with shops, restaurants, cafes, and pubs and they are usually a bit more affordable than those establishments on some other more up-market streets. On Queen Street is Nathan Phillips Square with the Old and New City Hall buildings. Chinatown is only a five or ten minute walk away. The lake is about fifteen minutes by walking to it.

I really enjoy Queen Street West in Toronto. It's an area where you can even stay if you want to be near some of the best shopping in the city or if you want to be in an area that has lots of interesting character. There are hotels such as the Gladstone and the Drake that are quite popular and also a few other accommodations that are not like your average chain hotel. There are restaurants, bars, art galleries and you will find all kinds of street venders in the summer. The highlight for me are the amazing boutiques. To mention a few, there are clothing stores including some that are stocked with Canadian fashions, shoe stores, jewellery boutiques, fabric stores and home accessory stores. If you don't like to shop in malls that have similar stores then I highly recommend heading to Queen Street West. Although you will come across stores like The Gap, Guess, Lululemon etc. that obviously most malls have.. it is the unique stores that are the most intriguing. I guarantee you will find stuff you just won't see in other parts of the city. Thank you for reading this review!
