“Reliable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 February 2012

I travel often in Ontario with frequent overnite stays. Last week stayed again at the Hamton Inn in Sudbury. As usual front desk staff happy and cheerful. Fresh fruit and coffee available. Room clean and ready when I arrived. A number of young hockey players were staying the weekend clearly, but at 11pm all was quiet. A good nite sleep. Being consistent in the hotel industry is not easy. The Hampton Inn in Sudbury has so far been able to achieve this.

Room Tip: High floor near elevator

We try and stay here whenever we come to Sudbury. The rooms are always clean, the beds are comfortable and we always enjoy the breakfast buffet. The hotel was packed this weekend with hockey players and so our stay wasn't really worth five-stars. There were lots of kids running the halls at all hours and playing in the elevators! At the buffet, they left huge messes and wasted lots of food- no parents seemed to be in sight! Thankfully, they settled down at 11 pm and we had a good night's sleep, but still- we've had more enjoyable stays at this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask if there are any teams booked and try to get a quieter floor.

Rooms were nice but no amenities. Your kind of stuck out on the edge of the city with a good walk to the nearest shopping, restaurant and/or . area. There is no dining facility and the premises is not licensed. No fridges in the rooms, no microwaves, asmall little no inventory store.

Room Tip: For the money you spend, better off to find a fuuly equiped hotel.

We stayed at this hotel Dec 8-11/2011. Convenient location: Canadian Tire is across the street, along with East Side Marios, Swiss Chalet) There was a MAJOR hockey tournament in town so our "group rate" was about $30 more than their regular rate. Breakfast was included, but I have stayed at other Hamptons much less money than this and breakfast was included there too! Room was comfortable and clean, but no one in our group had a microwave or more importantly a FRIDGE! I find this inconvenient and surprising for a Hampton Inn. The elevator broke down several times, I was stuck in it once with my husband, son and two other players and their parents, but team mates were stuck twice always as were were leaving to board the bus for our game. We were on fourth floor, got on and pushed "G". Elevator descended as far as third floor and stopped, doors wouldn't open. Eventually the doors open and you can get off, but the front desk isn't overly sympathetic. They blame the kids for "dirtying the tracks" (whatever THAT means) and holding the doors open too long. My husband is an electrician and he thinks the motor is too small and gets too hot from so much use on busy weekends so the overload trips. The proper fix is to bypass overload, (not best idea) or upgrade to larger motor. Anyway, breakfast is plentiful and healthy, even our very nutrition-conscious hockey coach approved of the eggs, fruit salad, whole fruit, yogurt, bagels, muffins, juices, hot and cold cereal selections etc. The hotel and rooms are pleasant enough, but staff need to ensure that when guests are affected and inconvenienced by something as problematic as being stuck for 15 minutes in an elevator, ( TWICE FOR OUR GROUP...18 rooms x $145/night for 3 nights = a LOT of revenue!!) profuse apologies and/or compensation should be offered. I may stay again, if they don't jack up the price and if they fix elevator!
